amok: I was wondering about Inside a star-filled sky but in the end decided against it. Is it really an experimental game? To me it just feels a little bit to much like just another shooter with a bit of a twist... It is good, but I am not sure how experimental/alternative it really is as a game.
Dunno, I haven't played it myself. From what I heard it seemed more like a 'puzzle' game than a real shooter, and as a game it sounded really weird. If you've played it yourself, you'd be a better judge of it, of course. Was just a thought. :)
The flying section of Personal Trip to the Moon has reminded me of a short web game I played some time ago, after finding about it in a RPS post. I can't remember the name, but at the start of the game there are two men inside an office building, and then one of them jumps through the window (or maybe the wall was blown up there) and starts flying. Near the ground, people is staring at something happening above their heads, and the flying character can freely explore the area until the player understands what real event is being depicted in the game.

I've not been able to find it, but while I was looking for it through the RPS archives, I've been reminded of several good candidates for this list:

The Republia Times (Puzzle, Political)

Murder Dog IV: Trial Of The Murder Dog (Narrative)

SPENT (Charity, Education)

Drop (Physics Puzzle, Music)

Langman (Platformer + Hangman)

Activate the Three Artefacts and then Leave (3D navigation) (video)

Small Worlds (Exploration)

p0nd (Subversive, Narrative)

Seasons (???)
Not sure if this counts, but looks a bit less like a game than a political satire.

But that's just the setting. Skin it to something else (make pie according to customer orders, for instance) and it becomes a completely traditionnal game...
You mean "off" right? This typo has been doing my head in since this thread was created :(

I lumped all the Tale of Tales games in the Other section, they have a few others also, including a new one coming up soon (Bientôt l’été).

(Though The Path have received a honourably single entry...)

I would like to point attention to this:

Love

Free to play, but the creator asks you to donate if you like. It is better to not say anything about the game until you have experienced it.
Honourable mention - GlitchHiker, the nature of the game means it can no longer be played.

http://globalgamejam.org/2011/glitchhiker

As it is no defunct it will not go on the list, but still I think it worth mentioning just for the concept.

Wow, interesting.
I still think you should add it to the main post, maybe in a "rip" section. The post isn't only about what-to-play-today, it also has a documentary value. Is useful for "what to mention" when discussing the fringe of videogaming.

good point, there are a couple of others there already which have been in development for a long time and may not see any release, and it is very difficult to find out what happens to them.

Maybe room for more sections (completed, in development, defunct, etc). I will consider it, but for now I will make a R.I.P. sections.
