Personally, I wouldn't play Majora's Mask until after Ocarina. Majora's Mask is an awesome game, but I would say it's going to give you a bad image of the Zelda experience if you play it first. You should make up your mind on Ocarina before you move on to Majora's Mask, but you definitely need to play them both.
I think my favorite part about Zelda, the dungeons, is better realized in Ocarina.
IMHO best game of all time. Played it as a kid and it completely changed my life. Without playing OoT I wouldn't be the gamer I am today. I consider myself to be a true PC gamer but I just can't find to this very day a game that would capture my imagination as OoT did. Gothic is probably the closest title I can think of off the top of my head.

how do you mean?
I mean, what makes the dungeons in that better than the ones in ALTTP?
IMO, Ocarina of Time was one of the worst Zelda games.
LttP, MM, and WW were all superior.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply anything about ALTTP. Ocarina's dungeons > Majora's Mask dungeons. I haven't played through ALTTP all the way yet - I'm actually in the middle of playing that game for the first time.
As an aside, Link's Awakening is the Zelda that I've played through the most - I love that one! I can't believe I sold it. Going to have to pick it up again...
Majora's Mask will make you hate Zelda.... if you screw up the time sequence you need to reset and wait up to 2 game days ((MANY HOURS)) for an event you need to complete... its a pain in the ass. Trust me you don't want it to be your first Zelda experience... Ive played it beaten it but it took me a month or so, without using a walkthrough. (about a solid day if you know exactly what to do and where to go)
Ocarina of Time will introduce all of Zelda's mechanics and get you ready for Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, Twilight princess... or however you decide to play it.
Please don't get MM, don't even think about it. Far to frustrating unless you fully grasp Zelda Style game Mechanics

Nothing will get you ready for Phantom Hourglass which is a real piece of shit.
My favorite is "The Minish Cap", not everybody knows that one, mainly because it's a late GBA game.
It's a solid Zelda game and well worth playing. A Link to the Past is a lot better, in my opinion, but Ocarina is still a good one.
I don't know how it compares to the newer games, though. Except for Oracle of Ages, which I didn't really like, it was the last Zelda game I ever played.

Phoboss: Forgot to mention that this would be my first Zelda gaming experience. I'm still a zeldavirgin.

If U Seek Zelda, you can't go wrong with Ocarina of Time.

It's truely awesome. I didn't play it for the first time until the gamecube release, and it still looked great... it has a really good atmosphere. Plus all the worlds have a nice feel, yet all different from each other.
Possibly the best game ever.

Please don't listen to this guy. :P
I tie it with Link's Awakening as my favourite. I don't think it would be hard to get into at all. People complain about the time mechanics -- I think you either get it or you don't. Personally I think people who don't get it are umm lacking in fairly basic gameplay skills. :P
And for the record, my vote is yes, play the hell out of Ocarina. I find it absolutely beautiful and addictive. Certainly one of my most memorable gaming experiences.

If you're looking for educated and trustworthy opinions on video games, going to IGN is a horrible mistake. :P

I think it's a nice list. Personally, I would have given a Link to the Past the #1 spot and Fallout would have appeared somewhere. Still, it's a pretty nice list.

Lofl, I completely disagree. Please ensure you clarify that you mean "in my opinion..." Aas far as I am concered, Majora's Mask does *everything* Ocarina of Time does better.

It goes without saying its only his opinion in this case.

Just saying they're more motivated by money than readers or passion for video games.

It wouldn't be so bad, had it not been for the cunting temple you constantly have to return to and the extremely tedious boat shit. Hopefully, the next one on the DS will be better.
