Tiefood: You are right.. but why make specs when you can use everything without any consequences?
Because it's not that easy to just change stuff in combat so you still need a certain spec going in. But yes, they're obviously more fluid, but they're still specs.

newtrality: Don't forget to go ahead and calculate your skills and spec :D
This is a game, not a math problem. You're supposed to have fun and experiment, not calculate the correct answer first and merely go through the ordeal of playing to prove that you were right -_-...
I am excited, but my copy will no doubt be late a week or two. I really hope it is not more. -_-

newtrality: So, by my count, it seems we only have 7 more days until the said title comes out. I'm pretty excited for this monumental release. What about you guys?
The last time I was excited about Diablo 3 was in 2003 when Blizzard North was working on it, with the original members who made D1/D2.

Then they were summarily sacked and the work scrapped, and virtually all of my interest went with it. Similar to Black Isle Studios with the original Fallout 3, or Project Van Buren.

Though in that case I played Fallout 3 anyway, eventually. I don't place Diablo in the same category.

I'm still curious about what Blizzard North's original conception was. This would have been in the days when isometric 2D RPGs still had a foothold in the PC market.

Definitely not the Diablo you know. It would have been a game for kids, more or less.

I know and I acknowledge "puzzle" games as a fun thing. And by "puzzle" I mean the ones which only provide entertainment by giving the player a riddle / equation / conundrum to solve, with the solving process being merely a formality to check for yourself and prove for the program that you were right.
Thankfully - Diablo 3 is not a game that can and should be solved before you even run the executable.
What I hate are games that give you a meta-puzzle disguised as customization and choice.

It's a complex issue but I hope you get the gist of what I'm trying to convey.
Gonna Skip it, getting Dragon's Dogma instead

Midnight launch in London anyone?
I managed to enlist my ex-girlfriend so will not be waiting alone. Anyone else taking up the bait?

Tizzysawr: Downloaded and ready to install already :P
Yep, same here.
One week... that should equal two or three weeks for me. -_-

The only thing you "lose" by respeccing is some buff at max level. Not that I think it's a "bad" system, but it's not what most folks will conjure up in their minds when you say "spec".

Well, if it's D2, you would be punished for not doing said math problem beforehand. Thankfully for those who will be playing D3 they've at least learned to not do that anymore.

Perhaps when Torchlight 2 comes out you'll find out...

You can sort of forgive people, all Blizzard RPGs have been like that until now, even WOW (though I understand they have changed much of that and will change it even more in the next expac). Blizzard's answer to people asking for the ability to respec in D2 amounted to "roll a new toon, noob, and don't be so dumb this time!" Hell, they even punished the everliving shit out of WOW players for respeccing, making it more painful the more often you did it. They practically created demand for the fruits of gold farming by requiring raiders that wanted to do anything else at all to respec twice weekly or be horrible at everything but raiding.

I dont really plan on getting this, but im curious as to the potential system requirements for this? (one or two friends are too and froing over whether to get it or not after trying the beta)
Will get the game and play it together with my friends. I will play as the Witchdoctor and annoy everyone with a fake jamaican accent while we play.

Only thing that really bothers me, and this bothers me a lot, only 4 player co-op. Damn that sucks.
