Now this is a fairly controversial move. I can't say I agree with or follow the logic of the commitee on this one.
He's obviously not a war-monger, but he is by definition running the two most heavily portrayed wars in the world at the moment.

And, similar to a post of a thousand words, I have no reply to that image either.

stonebro: but he is by definition running the two most heavily portrayed wars in the world at the moment.

Precisely. Not only that, but he has stated he would attack terrorists within Pakistan without their government's permission - and clearly has done so. While the validity of doing so may be up for debate, whether or not it's a peaceful stance is not.
This proves that Obama is really the prophesied Anti-Christ!!!!
Why? Because he's black?
Sorry.
Seriously though, I could think of ten other people who deserved it more than this guy who hasn't exactly done much to win the hearts of peacelovers. You know, like G20 protesters.
He's been in office less than a year, and he gets this award??
How hopeless were the other contenders?
Can you say "Arse-licking committee" ? :P
I'm perhaps the biggest Obamaniac in the known universe, but this is simply ridiculous. I understand the political signal they're trying to send, but as a recognition of what's supposed to be an extended period of hard work for peace and security (or even the better part of a life time, like when Jimmy Carter won the price), it just doesn't make any sense at all. Obama hasn't solved a single major international crisis yet, and while he might very well have the brains to handle more than a dozen world problems we haven't seen anything more substantial than good intentions so far...
Perhaps the other nominees were Saddam Hussein (in memoriam), bin Laden, a random dude found on the street and Gordon Freeman, so Obama was obviously the best choice.
Nobel Peace Prize committee head Thorbjoern Jagland has defended his body's choice of Barack Obama as the 2009 winner-

So basically were giving awards for talking instead of actually acting...

To be fair, he did make peace with Hillary.

Jagland is an incompetent fool. I can't understand why they'd give someone like him a position like that. I'm ashamed.
Yeah, nothing against Obama really, but when I first heard this, I thought it was a joke/meme spawned on twitter.
I too approve of Obama very much, but I don't see why he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. Give him a few more years, then maybe he'll have done enough to deserve it, but right now? No.
