Yeah. 2 hours less a day in 20 years is actually around 1,5 year of life.

And for holidays, for example, if you sleep less, your vacation may be 7 days longer :P

Wasn't there some study that said if you sleep too little, you'll die younger?

8 hours a day is not too little. In fact, it's 2 hours above minimum.

In fact, research of European Journalof Neurology shows, that these who sleep too much are at twice higher risk of getting memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer. (it's for those who sleep more than 9 hours a day)

Ah, you were talking about sleeping 8 hours a day instead of, say, 10. I usually sleep around 7, and going 2-3 hours below that would be bad. Mostly, though, I was just trying to say that you can't live doubly long just by forsaking the ways of sleeping (and a nitpicker would point out that you're actually alive even when sleeping).

There's also the quality of the hours you're awake to consider ;)

,,,aaand to contribute to the topic: Go New York! Wooo!
Yeah, i meant for the whole time sleeping too much, like 10-11 hours like many of my friends. It's not natural for the organism to sleep that long. In good old times when you slept to much, you were eaten by some wild animal :D

but yeah, back to the topic ;p

Let them be miserable like the rest of us, J/K of course. Grats on NY for being so progressive.

I'm more for civil unions for everyone and leaving marriage as a purely private ceremony, but whatever... this is good stuff.

I agree with you. Marriage should be just an written agreement between two adults. Of course, if someone is christian for example, they should be able to sign that agreement in the church, etc etc.

Yeah. I think any two people of legal age should be able to have a legal domestic partnership through a civil union. If you want a marriage handle it yourselves and leave the government out of it, either through religious means or however else you want to.

Is there anything in particular you have against polygamy ;P ?

No, I just think that for polygamy, there should be separate agreement :P
I hear it's a slippery slope, though
You guys seem to think about marriages from the wrong point of view.

Marriages are not for people, contrary to popular belief. Marriages are for societies and countries, that's why they were invented, and that's their purpose.

Marx told you that? Because it's one of the stupiddiest things I've heard in my life, no offence.

Because, even if you really wrap off marriage from whole emotional relations between two people, I can't see the reason why marriages SHOULD BE (STILL) society's case, not just the family.

Because it was? Ok, women had no rights for centuries. This is how it's meant to be! Ban women from public rights! It destroys the tradition!

It's typical for todays world that people seem to think that what they don't understand = stupid.

Think why marriages were invented in the first place.

ps. and it has nothing to do with women not having rights, that's different issue.
