I've seen some of those family values. Not sure how to respond to them. Also, there was a bill passed through the Senat or Sejm that allowed for gay marriages if the people were married in another country that allowed them. I remember a big uproar from PiS about it :D

Just curious, how is family values an issue here? Are you implying that family values could only be gained through family values that had come from a religious perspective? A societal trend not involving homosexuality?

I'm not trying to bait you in to an argument, I just don't see the link between family values and gay marriage.

Thankfully, though mostly catholic/protestant, my country is slowly following the more civilized world, with long-term gay unions just recently being allowed. I believe it's a matter of time for the rest (though child adoption should be much harder to get).

Did allowing gay marriages stop the gay pride parades?

No. Same sex marriage is a substantial victory for equality under the law but there is still a need for activism and advocacy. There are antiquated laws to take on (the blood ban and employment protection for transgender people come to mind.) Alberta listed homosexuality as a billable mental disorder until this year. The GLBT community is still the #1 target of hate crimes. Up to 40% of homeless youth were kicked out of their homes for being GLBT. Long story short: I wish there wasn't a need but there is and the pride parade and other initiatives will likely be relevant for the remainder of my lifetime and beyond.

Freedom of speech should remain boundless or it's not freedom of speech. If a nurse, afro-american, soldier, hippie can go outside and protest, gay people should have rights to protest for WHATEVER reason too.

In any other way, you're just denying freedom of speech at it's core.

Well I am OK with the gay marriage thing, but I do have to agree with you about the parades. I don't know what is up with that. Some of that stuff is seriously disturbing, not because it's male/male, female/female, not at all, just because it's.... DISTURBING.

I figure those are just 1% of the entire gay population so I try not to judge.

Anyway, it's interesting to me, it seems that the posters from Poland tend to be more on the right wing side. Is that true? I am so used to speaking to Western Europeans/Canadians online, and they are all very, sometimes extremely left wing in my opinion.

But I don't know, because I am very left wing on some issues and very right wing on others so it's hard to tell.

thmselves in their bedrooms. funny thing. What is disturbing? People are protesting all the time everywhere in United States. Gay people should have rights to protest too, whenever they want, or you're just mistreating them.

I ask only because those parades are a bitch to get around when they happen in the middle of Warsaw. That and then I have to worry about dodging drunken skinheads and other elements of that nature. I'm all for expressing yourself but damn, pick a side of Warsaw that isn't going to cause traffic problems.

Ok, i understand. But why sticking to gay parades? They just happen and they're gone. To the contrary, striking nurses, miners, teachers can block the street for DAYS. Are you ok with that? If not, I understand, it's an objective matter.

But i think it should be the matter of the state to re-organise the traffic. Because again, when you tell people WHERE TO PROTEST, youre limiting the freedom of speech. It's like telling ":ok, you may protest, but in the woods where noone can hear you"

Nah its the nutritional value information you get from eating a family. They have to put that on the packet because of the wide level of variation in families, corn fed free range ones that get lots of exercise are usually healthier and more flavourful and better served with a light herb dressing and a squeeze of lemon whereas the battery families who are confined to small apartments by night and cubicle farms by day are less tasty but a lot cheaper and best served with a strong flavoured sauce like vindaloo to cover up the lingering aftertaste of disappointment and dead dreams.

Like, here we get the dildo floats and the ass-less chaps at the gay pride parade, weird stuff like that. I mean WTF. Just the 1% of them that do that need to tone that stuff down a little bit, be polite.
