Judging from the gameplay I've seen it doesn't look too far off. Maybe 2010?

The problem with Duke Nukem Forever is that, unless it proves to be the best game ever made, it comes packaged with live strippers and can provide a cure for cancer, the game will be slaughtered.
Even if it turns out that it's decent, the question that will spark like a flare will be "What the FUCK took you so long?"
It's best for 3DRealms to keep the gag running Forever (pun intended), and never let it see the light of day.

THIS. Unless the game scores a 10/10 in every possible magazine, it will be a failure. But failure or not, I will love him =)

Total agreement. I think fans of Duke are expecting too much and what we'll get will be an average product with Duke label printed on the box. I hope I'm sooo wrong and the legend comes back in full glory, but I just can't see it...
Like Daedolon said in IRC few days ago: I'd so want a leak of the 2001 E3 version.
The new version which can be seen in the "new" trailers and pictures doesn't look good at all compared to this one.

Duke Nukem is as "an average product" as any other shooter. The difference is Duke Nukem has more style and is way cooler.
The list of things which has been achieved since Duke Nukem Forever was announced is... frighteningly big.

Well I played it a fair bit back in the day so I'm not saying its a BAD game but its still just doom with porn references and the admittedly cool laser tripbombs
