Crsldmc: Too bad. :(

Desperate times call for desperate measures?

Consider re-installing Windows.

Elmofongo: And how do I do that?

yyahoo: When your computer boots up, there is an opportunity to hit either the delete or F2 key (varies depending on the bios/age of computer) that will take you to the bios settings. In the bios settings there is a section to change the boot drive order, essentially the order that your computer will look on each drive (whatever kind of drive it is). The first drive that it finds that is bootable, it will boot to. In the bios, you will need to change the boot order to make your optical drive first. Then, make sure your OS disc is in the drive, save the bios changes and reboot. After booting off of the OS disc, you will be given options eventually to install the OS from scratch or to run a repair installation. After the repair has occurred, you will want to go back to the bios setting and change the first bootable drive choice back to your primary drive.

Registry *entries* can possibly be restored, but if the entire registry file is lost... Well, that *is* what defines windows. If it's gone, you might as well install from scratch...

Installing from scratch like yyahoo said, just make sure you backup anything important and there you go.

Try his suggestion first, if it doesn't work, then consider that GOG infected you with a serious case of digital AIDS and you need to "purify" your system.

Hell yeah.

Just like I said before, I don't work at Microsoft but I can guarantee you'll get rid of that nefarious infection by purifying it with FIRE.

Have you tried re-registering the DLLs as explained in that link I gave you a looooong time ago?
If you're going to reinstall Windows you might as well try that first and see what happens.

If you go mucking about with the registry while you don't know what you're doing, you should definitely those keys you're going to be editing. Or [url=http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/backup-registry-windows-7.htm]the entire registry.
Won't help you much if the computer won't start anymore, but otherwise quite convenient.
You can also use it to save certain tweaks as .reg files in your Dropbox (for example) so you can use them on other computers or installations.
