I wanted a girl. I got two boys. Not exactly a gift and definitely not a bad one at all, but at the moment I received the notice I felt like I was drowning.

Now everything is happy and dandy :3

One Christmas, my parents got me AA batteries for my Gameboy Advance SP.

It has a rechargeable battery, it doesn't take AA. Furthermore, I had already been using third-party rechargeable batteries for all my previous Gameboys for years, most of which they had bought me for previous Christmases/birthdays.

I neved had interest in phones, still don't.
Then one BDay mom got me a phone, Ericsson. That was 14 years ago I guess. I was devastated. My friends were WOW, all helping me set it up and learn to use it. I was sour-faced, just wanting to go away from it. Was hoping to finally get a Revell model plane that friends were always getting for BDays.
I did not use the phone at all. Apart from being big, there was no one to call.

Worst gift ever? Several years ago I was gifted a small, thin package, carelessly wrapped in brown paper. Once I opened the package, I found inside a pocket book, a short political essay written by an anarchist in the 19th century (certainly not my favorite subject for reading). But the worst thing was that almost all the pages of the book were stained with fat, chocolate and other substances that I preferred not to investigate further. :(

I put my best poker face, thanked the gift and threw it to a paper recycling container as soon as I had the opportunity... :D

My worst, (to date, that is) was from a rich relative that has emigrated to Hong Kong.

A complete boxed set of all the 'Dirty harry ' films.....all dubbed in Chinese

Worst gift (off the top of my head) was a copy of sonic the hedgehog for sega megadrive for my brithday - a month after getting it with the megadriveat christmas from the same parent!

Utter let down and no trade in value even back then either!

Back when I was a kid: A dead, half-eaten rat, courtesy of my cat. Apparently Christmas is the best season for hunting or something. Or maybe he just didn't want to be left out of the gifting circle. Never before had I heard my parents scream that loud.

When I was a kid, I recieved a game in which you had to you a pig, which blow air, to impulse a paper over the net. Some kind of table tennis with pigs blowing air. Never played t.

I received the Twilight books from my well-meaning godmother. Proof that my relatives do not know me at all. Or respect my intelligence.

The worst gift I ever gave was a pack of chocolate flavoured condoms and a cheap Chinese vibrator (in the shape of a pink dolphin) to my younger sister's 15-year-old classmate.

Um... that actually sounds creepy. Just to be clear, she was a mutual friend of ours, I was only sixteen, and it was supposed to be a joke. A very bad joke, in retrospect >_<.

I'm 18, and have never been exactly a "girly girl" (whatever the hell that is, anyway), but the more important thing to note is my age. This year, for my birthday, I was presented with a (perfectly serious) gift of barbie doll makeup and nailpolish by my aunt.

It was awkward and weird and it's still sitting on my bookshelf, being pink and glittery.
I've had similar incidents happen to me. My aunt had heard from somewhere that I was interested in games, so what does she get me? Games for girls! A wonderful and girly collection of ten exciting mini-games! I was also 18 at the time >_<. Suffice to say, I fired it up just to see how bad it was, and it was awful beyond words. Not even satire material, just boring, sexist and abysmal.

Also, every year I receive cheap, glittery jewellery which I'll never wear, sickly sweet perfume which I'll never wear, and on one occasion, glitter eye-shadow. I never wear eye-shadow, and I'm not about to go near anything that makes me look like a disco ball.

I've just kind of given up on ever connecting to my extended family.
