Crosmando: JMich, here's a better task for you, list me some post-2K games which not PC exclusive, which you would consider classics.

And then list how many post-2K games you would consider classic, which are PC exclusive.
This is quite an easy task (and I only name some of the many that are out there...)

Post 2K non PC-exclusives:
- Knights of the Old Republc
- Halo
- Resident Evil 4

PC Exclusives:

- Battlefield Series
- Diablo 2 + Add On
- Deux Ex
- World of Warcraft
- Warcraft III
- Dragon Age

All of them is what I would add to what I think most of the world would consider "Classics"

amok: maybe we should start complaining that gOg do not release more antique games?
Thats not ancient enough....
Is there someone who can honestly say they do not have list/backlog of say 100 good+ unplayed games?

So very true. Though for the collectors among us, much of the pleasure comes from acquiring more. After all, I can't spend every evening in my safe room sipping Château Lafite and petting my ocelot while I admire my latest ill-gotten Vermeer, yet that doesn't stop me from wanting to obtain another one. ;)

It is. Better catch up on your TV shows. Currently watching (and enjoying) The Blacklist.

Non-Exclusives
Colin McRae 2005
NFS Hot Pursuit 2
Flatout
Arx Fatalis
Morrowind
Jade Empire
KOTOR
The Bard's Tale
The Punisher
The Sims

Exclusives
Paradox Interactive
UFO:A?
Freelancer
Microsoft Flight Simulator (take your pick for version)

Could probably spend some more time finding more, but your point is what? That there are games worthy of being called classics that are or are not PC exclusive?
Something else to keep in mind: GOG won't necessarily pursue obscure old games, even good ones where the legal situation is obvious, if they don't think many people will buy the games.

I don't necessarily agree with this as I'd prefer to see good old obscure games be given a new lease on life through GOG, but it's somewhat understandable since obviously GOG is a business needing to make money.

I don't even have (nor need) a TV set so that's not an option ;) I'll just stick with games and hopefully I'll finish Commandos 3 today :D

Might be only 20-30 games for me. However I would like to fill this backlog up to 100 games with all the classics still missing. If they would come it would be great, but of course at some point the flow of classics must trickle away.

I like buying new games (mostly from GOG, DRM-free), but actually now I am thinking of cutting back, just because I'll probably take a rather big housing loan soon. I've entered a cheapskate mindset now that I don't want to waste any money at all, unless fully necessary. Every euro I save now beforehand, is less loan taken from the bank. I even bitch to my missus in the grocery store that we should not buy anything fancy (it is just food, after all), I don't want to buy new clothes for myself now etc. It is funny how I become a total Uncle Scrooge (in a mindset, not riches) if I have a reason to save money, like for a new home.

I think I already have at least 1000+ of games in my backlog that I could see myself playing (mostly PC, but quite a few also for PSX and PS2), and it seems I am progressing so slowly with them. Currently playing mostly Total Annihilation (now on the first expansion pack), and also a bit of Thief Gold on the side (I'm going to finish it this time, but god damn I find Thief level designs confusing, no idea where to go and what to do next).

I know I am not going to run out of games any time soon, but I'm pretty sure I will occasionally get an urge to buy some more games from GOG in the near future. Steam sales though, I'll probably skip altogether at least for the rest of the year, no sweat. Then again, I think I've skipped their last few big sales anyway. Humble Bundles, hmmmm... If they keep releasing more Android bundles...
Reading Crosmando trying to argue his point is always entertaining... :)

Thanks again!

It's understandable, but TETs assessment of how many of the possibly attainable titles out there are worthy of bringing in is still ludicrous to me.

Unsure if he means this or the post about reluctance to go after mid to low rated games. Tell me if you want me to go look for that post.

Edit: found it.

I think the OP has a very valid point and it is hard to come up with counter arguments.

Please have a look at Fever Discordia's wonderful thread of titles GOG could get with not much headache.

Add to that my thread the rights of most of which belong to companies already on board.

So GOG is far from a point to argue that they good reasons not to add these games on a regular basis. Before anyone mentions, I do know you need to come to an agreement with those companies already here before putting up any of their games.
