On the plus side, at least this means GoG must be very financially healthy to be able to afford not having a Xmas sale at all. No need to download everything you bought yet.

I think that's like saying kids will be glad that a section of the sweet store is closed when they come in because they already have plenty of sections.

I'm not sure how one can get burned out by something that offers more choice and is optional.

They've just had well over a month of continuous deep discounts from the Fall and Winter sale, and you want more? Jesus Christ, they don’t call us consumers for nothing.

That's a one-dimensional way to look at it. What's actually happened is some people got two things they didn't expect or ask for (but appreciate), then didn't get what is to be expected.

It's like asking for a PS4 for Christmas, getting an Xbox One as a random present a month before, then getting socks at Xmas. The Xbox One is a nice surprise and does basically the same thing, but it's not what you asked for and certainly didn't demand.

That analogy makes no sense. The product doesn’t change, only the time you get it. You want to buy Daikatana on sale at Christmas, but the sale is moved forward to avoid competing with the Steam sales so Daikatana comes on sale earlier instead.

Also, why do you want Daikatana? It’s horrible.

But in this scenario Daikatana didn't go on sale, but likely would've in the next big one, which didn't happen.

Steam is raking in money from Winter Sale.

I was one of them. Meh, no rush, there will be a Christmas sale anyways...

Sales are nice and for those purchasing the mondo cash cow titles I get it. 25 for a 60 game, that is a month of gas for your car.

On the other hand most games I buy are out of their prime. That is, 6-12 months or more. =) On that note I rarely see big savings that goes beyond a lunch (5-10 USD) when they go on sale vs "out of prime price". Point being sales are not a huge driver for me personally.

It is more about the quality of the game, platform is runs on (preferably linux) and the game type.

For instance, if they came out with a Fallout 3 type game, ran on linux, was 100 USD, on GOG and NEVER on sale. I guarantee you would see a purchase, if not multiples, on my account.

I collect games like baseball cards. Even if i only played 80 i love my 520 games i slowly collect minus the crppy ones i dont buy. Its just a hobby so not about about quality but collecting baseball ( games) cards. I like my collection its fun to choose out of tons i havent played randomly

GoG not doing a Christmas sale was dumb imo & its their loss. They could've made a nice chunk of money from ppl with extra money he/she got for Christmas or planned to spend on games for Christmas.

All I want is Gothic1 on sale once before it's gone from the catalogue. Regular prizes for old games here are so ridiculously far above the ones for physical copies, that I only buy them on sale.

The reason is simple: Gothic I isn´t part of NordicGames Catalog! So it´s not NordicGames, but PiranhaBytes who decide when it´ll go on sale!
And this is also the reason why it won´t be removed...

people had TWO gog sales close together to get all they wanted. and i think someone worked out all bar around 110 of the 800+ games went on sale in the two sales combined so ppl had their chances.
Id rather gog got ppls money early that having to compete vs evil empire during this period
