"I just wanted to let you know once a year many of us get a ton of money on xmas as work bonus's, kids from parents, etc etc. I usually have almost no money and sitting here a bunch saying, oh i guess they didnt realize this could be the hugest 1 day sale of the year in revenue. You guys are great, i just wanted to let u know all of us poor people are sitting around with money and gonna buy fishtanks and stuff and check back here new years. Some of us only spend money on sales, just realize half your audience is sitting around with money on this 1 day a year and you have nothing on sale to buy really. the 7 dollar ultima sale isnt even worthy of caring specially since most own it. Okay be well Its your money not mine, im not complaining im giving you a tip on 100s in lost revenue. any case, be well"

Love the ops, don't really care about sales, but they're an online business so figured id give them a heads up and check back in 5 days. Seeya

p.s. unless u didnt get the day off everyones at home buying stuff online, and without a big sale, you cut off 90 percent of your revenue on xmas day across the entire world. good business decision =}

+1 You make a great point, this would be perfect for a 1 or 2 day flash sale.

I'm sure plenty of people held off buying in the Winter Sale because they expected a Christmas sale.

Steam is picking up all the money, this is despite the Steam sale meme dying and GoG being more competitively-priced. It just gives Steam back some of the 'steam' (pun originally unintended) they lost.

The Winter Sale was more for people already on GoG or had them bookmarked; a Xmas sale is for 'passers by' who're going to be checking every site and store for what they have in their sale, it's the one moment in the year where stores can get new customers, and the new guys are going to see nothing here. So not only do GoG get no money from them, but they have no reason to return in future. It's certainly a crazy business decision.

I know GoG likes to be experimental with their marketing and sales, that's cool, but that doesn't mean it's good to throw shit at the wall and see what sticks. You don't remove the goalkeeper from the pitch just to try something new, you end up losing 20-0.
Yes, there should have been a Christmas sale.
I like to think the Christmas Sale was the Winter Sale itself. It surely was a few weeks earlier than Xmas but it had very good deals, I did buy all the ones I needed.

I could be wrong on this but: GOG was among the first stores to offer big discounts this month, maybe they did it as a strategy to make as much profit as possible before everyone flocks to Steam and its larger catalogue.

I'm puzzled too. Many people will have more money available now than the rest of the year and I think making the winter sale now would have been clever.
Maybe there'll be a "new year"-sale, who knows?

I'm puzzled too.... This is usually the day of the year I have far, far less money than the rest of the year. I must be doing something wrong....

No more sales, please. They had a two-week sale that butted up against ANOTHER two-week sale, we're all saled out.

Yes, the early winter sale was too much, I just would have made it later and not immediately after the autumn sale, but whatever.

I'm waiting for Gothic 1 to be on sale for ages though and always get disappointed. :/

No.
27 packages with around 30 individual games and some add-ons, that's a good-sized sale. And it's after Christmas. Tada! Post-Christmas sale.

---

Like it or not, gOg do what they have to do to get around the white noise of the 800-pound Gaberilla and this year that manifested in holding the sales before Steam did. That resulted in a combined 4 weeks of nearly every title on sale, with just a week or two gap in-between the two events. Throwing another massive store-wide sale on top of those two... in light of the two previous sales, I would question the wisdom of a third giant sale so soon after.
I'm not in a good position to enjoy a christmas sale this year, but I understand the OP.
I DO however miss some kind of christmas decoration around the website, especially since they changed to a more simplistic layout.
Even a little mistletoe or some candycanes in a corner would put a smile on my face.
GOG has had a really awkward Fall/Winter sale slate with too early sales that are too close together then nothing. Maybe their sales figures show otherwise but the timing seems really dull. The Square Enix deal is great but not as epic as typical seasonal sales. Not that it stopped me from buying.
