Romulus: I'm glad to see this, it certainly is encouraging. I've only seen one thing outside GOG, which was a trainer for a GOG version of Darkstar One, but that is it. I had a search around as well and also found nothing.
With the world in 'economic crisis' for GOG to offer games in this way for so cheap is a God-send. I know I can defiantly wait for games I want to turn up on here, the benefits outweigh any urge to play something as soon as its released. I've learnt this from years of buying games full price on the release date and then not touching them for weeks because I'm too busy with work. Never doing that again. For example, I've always wanted to play Far Cry, and if I'd bought it on release it would STILL be in its plastic at this point in time; now its coming to GOG and I'm over the moon.
Seriously I'm not joking about this, I bought Broken Sword: The Angel of Death on release and I've still not installed it.

Far Cry is awesome. I own it on cd (5 of em), but will be buying it again when released here.
In fact, I'm really looking forward to some Far Cry multiplayer with GoG.com players. :)
I just did quick search of Good Old Games torrents and found that there are a few GOG releases out there, but the good thing is that the file is a direct .exe, which most people don't trust because it could easily be a virus. Remember what he said in the interview though gamers are good people in general and are willing to buy games they can find and use without being hassled. Not all gamers are always looking for the free copies.

ElPixelIlustre: Exactly. Buying games from GOG doesn't just allow you to play them (i.e. steam) it also makes you feel like the game is actually yours. Even more, it usually comes with goodies and the feeling of doing the right thing.

Doesnt make you feel like its yours, it IS yours. :)
GOG.com is the Wii for PC gamers.
Bringing back the oldies for the newbies.

Far less shitty shovelware though

cogadh: Elmo, considering the ongoing success of GOG, I think you are seriously underestimating the appeal of the games they offer. After all what are any of us here for if not a desire to play these games again? Also, I think you are seriously underestimating the appeal of a game without any DRM at all. .

Yes, all very romantic, but have a serious think about the units they sell of any one game and compare that to any one game that is less than a year old. This site specialises in selling very old games which people have already pirated and played years ago. There is little to pirate when no-one is that interested.
Then again, as stated before there are GOG derived torrents out there.
Some GOG titles have special fixes not available separately (e.g. Arx Fatalis), and all games come nicely presented in tidy little installers. It is inevitable that some pirates will leak these out as the most convenient way of sharing those games.
Plus these game work well on new OS's which is not found anywhere else for some games. It makes it easy to install.
I get what Elmodiddly is saying that new games take up most of the torrent traffic I'm sure and these games have been torrented before, but also GOG isn't that well known yet. After a few years I wouldn't be suprised to see and explosion in GOG torrents.

I don't know of any shitty shovelware that's on the virtual console.

No one is debating that GOG is a niche market, or that they will ever sell as many copies of a single game as would a AAA new release, but there is sufficient desire for older games in this format, for these prices that CDProjekt and all the publishers they have attracted have invested their time and money in it. If the site and games were as unsuccessful and as undesired as you make it seem, they would have given up on the site long before now and invested that time and money in something else, especially when you consider the current state of the economy. That hasn't happened, the site keeps expanding and now we know that GOG games actually have shown up on P2P sites. Put it all together, and you are still seriously underestimating everything about GOG and its customers. Unfortunately, the presence of GOG games on P2P sites also means GOG is underestimating the honesty and trust of all its customers.

cogadh: No one is debating that GOG is a niche market,

Actually on another thread I did. I suggested it was niche at the moment, due to it only being around for a short while, but as the number of games on here increases (and the variation in those games), it becomes a place where the large amount of PC gamers that don't have current generation systems can come to buy games.
It may be niche now, but I'm sure GOG's intention is for it to be very popular (and profitable! otherwise, why bother?)

PieceMaker42: After a few years I wouldn't be suprised to see and explosion in GOG torrents.

Perhaps ... but why should we care? GOG.com has made the right descision NOT to anger the customer with shitty DRM and other freak ideas to "protect" data which CANNOT be protected. GOG.com cares for it's customer, they give you much value for your money, they treat you with respect. Why, in Gods name, should they be concerned about copies on the net? Every game is copied and freely distributed, every movie shares the same fate, but Hollywood is making record revenue after record revenue and the games industry was growing year for year with nearly two digit percentages. Why should anyone care about copies on the net, if there is still (!) no proof for the assumption, that "piracy" is hurting sales?

Harzzach: Perhaps ... but why should we care?
Because regardless of the state of the market, individual businesses still rise and fall. Perhaps should is too strong a word, but you might want to care just a little bit whether GOG releases get pirated to death, because if they do GOG might die. Which means you & I won't just be able to click a bookmark, fill in a few numbers and wait 5-10 minutes for a great game to kill those mind numbingly boring Sundays. That's why I care anyway.
