I just paid attention to this but... Soooo this means gog is also ok with day one DLCs.
I'm guessing the next thing to do is just ditch that DRM free part, let's just stop pretending now...

Am I to take "Unique preorder DLC: Elven Resurgence, a standalone scenario" to mean that this DLC will only be available via pre-order? Because Christ, I hate that kind of thing. "Don't want to spend $40 on a game when you have no way of knowing that whether it will be any good? Well that's the only way you can get the complete game!" Exactly the kind of manipulative, anti-consumer bullshit that GOG sometimes stands against.

Yeah except that seems like a pretty damn good deal to me. I get a deluxe edition for a new release and DLC for $45. Also, day one DLC is not inherently a bad thing. Sometimes devs bundle content created after the game has gone gold because they couldn't get it done in time. This just means more content to sell, and when priced right, everybody wins.

That's because it is a pretty damn good deal to you, since you don't need to pay $62 for it. Well, unless you eventually find out the game you pre-ordered and the included DLC suck, then it will be a pretty horrible deal even for $45. ;)

No. It means "pay now and get it included in the price, or pay more later, or wait until the game goes on sale". Typical industry marketing to promote preorder sales by pretending it's an incentive.

So, is this the great game, that they had to have, which forced them to go back on the one price guarantee. If so, it's a piss poor reason. No sale here. Not even out yet and has DLC, just pure greed. No Thanks Triumph, and I wish I had not already bought your other games.

The games they announced aren't really worth it and they aren't even from publishers that have a huge back catalog of games we might be interested in either.

I'm a bit puzzled as to how they thought this was going to be something we would accept. Those games are a pair that were already committed to being here and the other one doesn't look particularly compelling either.

I think I may have to just stop buying from GOG until they either realize what a foolish idea this is, or I've played through my backlog. And that's going to take me years.

If they're going to pull this sort of stunt, I'm not sure why I should be buying here rather than at one of the other DRM-free stores.

What other stores are consistently DRM free? I know GG and Desura are sometimes, but only sometimes.

I was wondering the same thing myself.

I believe that both dotemu and shinyloot are generally DRM free. Shinyloot does have some DRM games that have a one time activation, but nothing worse than that.

I don't care if GOG stocks DLCs just as long as they get ALL released in the future and not stop short forcing us to rebuy on Steam if we want future DLC (a la GamersGate).

Also would be nice if GOG would one up Steam and organize the DLC better in their catalog.

As for the price?

Check back on AoW3 three years from now...no probs.

In the meantime stock up on all of the stuff now on sale that you couldn't afford three years back *grins*
