Ah GOG, no black friday?! :D

This year in my country some onliners and retailers adopted black Friday. Now all of them have their sites down... :)

Far as I know, at least in the UK the only place that does Black Friday is Amazon - for everywhere else its just a regular Friday. However considering how its basically a big day dedicated to commerce and shopping I suspect it will slowly slip out into other cultures (esp as so many major companies are international).
I haven't the faintest idea of what a black friday is, but I'm all for it!

From what I can tell its a day when people in America go crazy and storm the shops for discount deals. I think they put something in the water* the night before and it results in an almost rabid fanatical state of pure buying power; with people waking up on saturday owning a whole livingroom full of cheap things that they've no idea how they got there.

* I suspect some form of Black Magic is used.
Black Friday is exactly what it sounds like. Total and utter madness here in the States, encapsulating all that is wrong, domestically, with this country.

Okay, that's a little strong. But the sane don't venture far from their homes. All big box stores are off limits. Leave the Wal-Marts, Best Buys, and Targets to the hoi polloi.

Okay, then it's just like the Rebajas de Enero (January Sale) here in spain. Proof:

here, it starts tipically the first working day after New Year's holiday.

Ah, well there everyone seems fairly well-behaved. There are quite a few incidences of sale violence here each year because two people touched a discounted plasma tv at the same time. It's madness.

(On an unrelated note, I was in Barcelona for six weeks this year... loved it so much. Were I not an American I would try to work there. You're very fortunate to live there if you can find work.)

Thanks, I am lucky indeed, which sadly can't be said of most of my fellow countrymen nowadays :(

I guess nobody will say no to a GOG black friday... there will be no pushing an fighting here and I bet the site will not go down too... :)

Isn't this also the international "Buy Nothing" day? Possibly as a counterforce to the "Black Friday", then.

EDIT: Ah yes, I'm just slow, that's exactly how it goes. I wasn't aware of "Black Friday" before, and as said it is apparently no coincidence BND is the same day.

I've already decided to boycott it, and buy anything GOG promotes today. I hope GOG does not support BND.

in case you haven't noticed, pretty much every digital retailer is having insane Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. there is no difference between American and European digital retailers because they do business internationally.

GamersGate is Swedish, yet they've been running sales all week and have just escalated their discounts to match some of Steam's. and of course, Steam is going absolutely crazy right now. and guess what: even Germans get those crazy discounts...

of course, Germany not being the US, you're not gonna take advantage of the current deals... right...?

i'm afraid GoG is missing out here. a lot of folks (including me) are more than willing to part with some of their money right now, and Steam will get most of it. but GoG could have cut in there a bit... also, GamersGate having many games on sale that are also on GoG doesn't help...

Polish customers cover 1% of GOG total. over 50% clients are US citizens.
