macuahuitlgog: Some weeks after I bought a Wii, I felt Nintendo went WiiWii on me. The lack of good games(in my opinion), not being able to play Gamecube games, the bad graphics. So many reasons why I regretted purchasing a Wii. What does the WiiU offer that makes it better than the Wii? Better graphics, that's it? Is the WiiU going to be a console for kids and girls like the Wii is?
The Wii followed the same trend Gamecube. Strong first party releases (but too far apart) and being mostly ignored by the big publishers.
This time they seem to be getting lots of third party AA games on board like Batman, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, and others. It remains to be seen how much the support will continue or fade when MS and Sony release their new consoles.

Regarding the bolded parts. There were good games but obviously if you weren't interested in Nintendo's franchises then it wasn't the console for you. I bought some games on release but I haven't played on the Wii for like a year. Today I preordered The Last Story because of the great reviews and because it took a lot of effort from the fans until somebody got it localized and brought it to America.
You must have bought one of those Wii Family Edition because I got mine years ago and it plays Gamecube games just fine. Last, the graphics are relative. The console itself can't output at HD resolutions but after watching Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess in action I doubt many will say those games don't have outstanding art direction.

I know there were good games for the Wii, just not enough. Yeah, I got a Wii Family Edition, unfortunately.

Nearly all Wiis can play Gamecube games, you must have got one of the recent cheapo model that lacks the controller/memory card sockets.

EDIT: Oh, just saw that someone had already addressed that.

I view Nintendo stuff like Disney stuff. I liked it as a kid but have no idea why so many people can't let go as adults. I tried to play the Wii Mario and Zelda games and they were fucking terrible.

That's just me though.

So yeah, no real interest in a WiiU.

Getting a cheap model was the only option when I purchased my Wii because Nintendo stopped selling the good models. So soon nearly all Wiis can not play Gamecube games.

The 5+ years of old ones won't cease to exist... there's no way they'll sell that many family editions.

Because it's the end of the Wii's lifetime.

I'm sure a lot of people are still buying Wiis even though only the family edition is available. It is a cheap alternative to the XBOX360 and PS3 after all if you are not a real gamer.
The Wii U holds no interest for me. I have a Wii that I got on clearance when the motion plus ones were phasing them out, but other than a few games I didn't care for it. The Wii U at $300 for a system not much more powerful than the 360 with a touch screen doesn't do anything for me.

In general I'm burned out on console gaming and unless Microsoft or Sony pull out a miracle for their next systems, my Wii and 360 will be the last consoles I get for a long time if ever again.

I don't really see how this backs up "soon nearly all Wiis can not play Gamecube games".
As I said, it's the end of the Wii's lifetime. Even if they keep buying the family edition for 5 years, it's not going to be "nearly all Wiis" or even "most Wiis". It'll probably still be less than half of them.

That depends on if it truly is the end of the Wii's lifetime. Just because you say so does not mean it is true. LOL

I did say, even if the Wii sells for another 5 years it still won't be "nearly all Wiis".

You're the one who made the original statement, the burden of proof is on you.

Also LOL to you too good sir.

It all depends on how many Wiis are sold in the next 5 years. It could be "nearly all Wiis" are family edition 5 years from now or not. When I said "nearly all Wiis", I was guessing that Wiis will continue to sell until most Wiis in this world are family edition. You are guessing that the number of Wiis sold in the next 5 years wont be more than the number of Wiis sold before the family edition only crap. We are both guessing. Not you, not me, knows for sure. Maybe Nintendo knows.
