I was thinking of trading in my old Nintendo DSi for cash at GAME or Gamestation but they only give £45 or £60 in-store cash for it.
Anyone else thinking of getting a Nintendo 3DS in March and/or knows some better shops in the UK that give a little more for a DSi?
I'm holding off on the 3ds until I can get info on the power port.
I've got a widget for my DSlite that runs it from AAA batteries.
If I can use this on the 3ds (or get a new one) I'll probably buy one.
I could never get such a widget for the DSi.
This becomes even more of a red line with the above info regarding battery life on the 3ds.

It's pretty much a rule that things are more expensive here. If it was expensive in Japan then it's going to be super expensive here. :P
Actually, Nintendo didn't define a RRP here, they just let the shops set whatever they thought they could get away with. Apparently the trade price that the shops are buying them at is £173. Amazon.co.uk is selling them for £220, stating that it's £10 off the RRP even though there's no RRP.

Another example is that we have to pay around £46 for an anime DVD/Bluray. Said DVD/Bluray will generally only have 1 or 2 episodes on it so around 23 to 60 mins in length.
And the prices of games are just as bad. A couple of years ago you would expect to pay at most £45 for a game. Now, it's £60 at least. Regardless of console/handheld system. And PC games (when available locally) are at an open price. So that's £75 and up.
Forget sales, forget prices going down to reduce stock. It doesn't happen here. So, you actually get it pretty good. That's about one of the only things I miss about the UK.

Well, I guess I did get a subbed copy of Let The Right One In when they were all the studios refused to import it (and I would have had to drive 400 miles to see it in a theater), score one for culture (or profit, I guess) one finally relented. So I guess I'm a filthy pirate.

I really want one. Especially since my DSi has stopped working properly. It thinks I'm touching the screen when I'm not, and that can keep me from using the D-Pad or touch screen properly.

on the GAME site you can trade a DSi XL for £105.00 so you pay £124.99 for the 3DS console. There are also other trade ins such as the DS Lite, DSi, PSP 3000, Xbox 360 Arcade etc.. but they don't give alot for those. Check the website for more details. Might be worth a gander :) Remember it is for a limited time, so if anyone is interested jump on the wagon soonish.

When it comes down to it, there's still a 12 year old Nintendo fanboy inside of me. But not in the illegal way... >.>

Well, it launches tomorrow in Europe. I'm going to get one, even though the launch lineup is piss-poor. I'll decide which game to get after having a go on other people's games.

I suppose it will be a good system and all, but it can't compare to the awesomeness that is the Virtual Boy. Now that was 3D! ~_^

Also, the DS Lite was worse than the DS, if you ask me. I never upgraded mine, but all my friends with lites ended up with broken hinges no matter how careful they were. Also, I hated the d-pad on the thing. Not as horrible as a PSP's (diagonals are still possible on a lite), but pretty bad. Nice screens though, and the larger and better-placed stylus was too. The GBA cartridges sticking out was ridiculous, but still better than nothing.
Seeing as I haven't upgraded this whole time, I might be game to get the 3DS. Unfortunately, I can't really see the whole 3D images thing very well. Like 3D movies and 'magic-eye' images, I used to be able to see those pop-out, doesn't work very well for me anymore. I don't know why, I guess I just have more trouble with depth than I used to. Kind of annoying since 3D is such a big fad again, so I probably won't. If I was, I'd wait for them to make an inevitable 3DS XL at the very least.
Given, I've a plethora of DS games, and there's many more I've never played, so there's no rush.
