cmdr_flashheart: Thanks for the info, guys.
Here are the new T1G1 rules
- state clearly in your post that you're doing take-one-give-one (a giveaway where people give back to the community, if they take something :] )
- if you ask for a key from someone doing take-one-give-one, then you should give a key TO SOMEONE ELSE, not to the gifter; this is not a trading/classifieds thread. You can trade with each other if both parties agree, but do it via PM.
- if you're doing take-one-give-one, don't post the key in plain sight because bots and, well, people.
- anyone asking for a T1G1 key can't do so by PM.
- giving back a key should happen immediately; post the offer in your asking post!
- also, it might not be fair to giveaway a key which is being given away/ was given away for free at any time.
- if you're giving away a F2P key, then say that it's that; mention if keys come with DLC or trading cards.
- the gifter is free to choose if they don't want to gift you if you offer a F2P key.
- no one has to wait till someone asks for a key up for grabs to post about a new key.
- if someone doesn't honor your T1G1 giveaway, don't be silent about it.
edit: so, all of these rules are up for discussion. Feedback appreciated.

Pawun: are you trying to apply rules here or you are only discussing them before opening new thread?
A little from column A, a little from column B The idea is there for people to use, and I'll make a separate thread when necessary.
I think it's good to let this type of giveaway catch on here because there are lots of people in this thread who don't contribute.
But of course, someone might not have spare keys lying around all the time, and in that case, I suggest posting in the GOG/non-GOG gift threads for straight-up gifting, which is also nice :]
Maybe I am silly, but I like the giveaways threads because I think it's nice to gift each other; however, people can take advantage of this, and I don't like that.
So, that's why I put the take-one-give-one thingy forward.

Sort of defeats the purpose of this thread.
I guess if you are concerned your 'gifts' or 'drops' in this thread are being taken by a leacher...
you can just state something like 'first person whom gave away a game within the last 24 hours to reply gets this game' or something like that.
(but that would require the gifter to check... which is time consuming for them)
I use steamgifts gog gift club to sort out leachers, but sadly I don't check at all, I just put up arbitratry blocks, like contributor value or time.
(though I'm sure there are leechers in our steamgift group as well)
If you really want to regulate it, you could try a gifters steam club with invites only. I'd join, if its cool if we can giveaway bundle keys.
(heck make it a bundle key gift club... that way when someone gives away a non-bundle game, they can be thanked doublely as much *smile)

Well, that would be too fussy. The T1G1 is simple- just offer something, and when someone asks for it, they offer something too :]
We don't have to wait till an offer is done to post a new one. And everyone is free to browse the available offers for something they like.
The only way this giveaway would suck is if someone makes an offer, but then doesn't do it. In that case, if someone does that to you, don't stay silent about it.

Oh, I didn't understand it at first. That explaination made it more simple to understand, thanks. We don't have to wait till an offer is done to post a new one. And everyone is free to browse the available offers for something they like.

It's not field tested and I don't think you'll find many gifters.
You could start it, and get the format/wording down for others (I may not particapate, cause I may all ready own the game you start with).

This idea will become a mess in a short time here. This thread already has over 1k pages. Kind of hard tracking stuff here. It's already confusing and people are already forgetting to mention they apply your rules ( just check what happened last night, when you've announced your ideas - how many people forgot to mention the kind of GA they are doing?).
And T1G1....seriously?! How many people do you think that will read all the stuff in the ninja giveaway?! If you, the one that want to set the new rules, can't be clear.
If you want to apply your rules in Ninja Giveaway, do it properly. Explain every time when you do a GA inside this thread what are your GA rules. Don't apply the rules only when they are convenient to you, don't use shortcuts, make sure that everyone understands them.
Best thing for this kind of giveaway, it's his own thread. A new thread will also provide a better test ground for you, to see if your idea works or not. Otherwise, it will be perceived as hijacking a popular thread and imposing your own rules to everyone. And people will create a Ninja Giveaway thread number 2 and will move to the other thread. So, as Momo suggested, try it in a new thread with clearly set rules in the opening post. That way, there will be no confusion about how things should work.

Awesome feedback, I appreciate it.
But this only started some odd hours ago, what night are you talking about? Can you link some posts please? I just want to see what I can do to refine the rules and make it easier.
Yeah, you're right, this thread already has a trend, but the take-one-give-one is an option- people do it if they want to do it. Like I said, I'll make a new thread when necessary.
Right now, however, I think it would be good to discourage some unsavoury behavior in this thread, which I am not the only one who dislikes.
Once enough people do it enough times, the rules will catch on. If they don't, they don't.
It's a simple as this:
post an offer, and if someone asks for it, they offer something too.
We don't have to wait for the offer to be accepted to post new ones. And everyone can browse available offers for what they like.

I agree, no shortcuts. Just post your rule along with your 'gamename' like everyone does for their rule of 'first to post a dog picture' or 'first to reply' rules. I agree, a new thread could be used to test it, but I seriously doubt the gog gifter population is big enough to sustain it in the long run. The drop by itself isn't thread hijacking, just the prior posts trying to explain it. But you all ready covered remedy for it by just stating the rule with a drop.

I like the idea, i just don't think it's suited here. Momo explained already why it's not suited here, so i won't repeat his/her words.

Momo said that some people might not have keys lying around all the time, and it's nice if they have a place for gifts as well.
And my answer to that was that there are already GOG/non-GOG gift threads, and they should always feel welcome to post there :]
People know who contributing members of the forum may be, like yourself and gbaz69, so it's definitely likely for your requests to be fulfilled if you post there.
The idea for here, right now, however is that it would be nice to discourage the excessive "takey-ness" we see in this thread.
Maybe things will normalize after a few weeks of take-one-give-one.
edit: seriously, giving games isn't the only way to contribute to the forums, also something to keep in mind :]

We'll see. Meanwhile, if anyone wants an Always Remember Me Desura key, please convince me that you have some experience with the visual novel genre. I'd rather give that to someone that wants to play it.

The key was provided by hellmonster67 to pass it along to someone that would actually will play it, so don't forget to thank him if you get the key.
