Tarnicus: The art style looks a little childish for my tastes. Does the story make up for that? :)
Hmmm... it may well do - it's a rather long series of small sized GNs telling the story of chinmi from a boy joining the temple and through to manhood, essentially the art and initial readership grew up together.
in the UK its always been pretty cheap to buy as well (think its still only about four or five quid a book after about 18 years now).
if you can find it cheap, give it a go - theres some quite dark moments in it too as i remember.

darkplanetar: Bleach i found it to be interesting
i did watch all episodes
They sure have a lot of episodes now! I watched the first 50 or so years ago before I had an extended break from watching anime (no internet made it difficult). Now I've got someone to watch it with who thoroughly enjoys watching it too :)

triock: One more suggestion - Basilisk: Kouga Ninpou Chou

Tarnicus: Brilliant one and have watched it multiple times :)
Maybe try this - Le Chevalier D'Eon

I don't mind some childish anime such as Inuyasha, but definitely prefer grittier darker stuff :)

something like High School DxD ?

That's a good one.

Blade Of The Immortal (the manga) has a lot of historical aspects to it as well. For instance, I didn't realise how hard it was to move between provinces without the correct papers at that time. This provides major plot development points on its own.

I don't watch anime at all, I only seen two series in my life: Evangelion and Maison Ikkoku.
The second one is my favourite, is simply amazing, I can watch it again and again and it always make me smile.
high rated

Sounds interesting :) That's one thing I love about anime, besides the art is the telling of stories that aren't prevalent in Western culture.

And shit I've just remembered I don't have Wolf's Rain anymore, and given my girlfriend's dog looks like a wolf, I have to get it again!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I may as well throw these codes out for any lurkers/non-anime fans:

Croixleur (Desura) C3867-??688-02F75-B1D8E

?? = compact disc

Disfunctional Systems (Desura) W0CX9-3X54O-V4VCQ-D??JK-X2DHG

Satazius (desura) C2A71-6D36F-D810F-5F??C

?? = The devil's number in cricket

Tarnicus: snip
Thanks for Croixleur. :p
NR, but thanks for your generosity Tarnicus :)

I would've suggested something but it's been a few years since I last watched an anime so I'm having some trouble remembering which anime is about what :)

That one sounds really familiar - I think I watched a few fansubbed episodes of that as it was airing. I lost most of my collection when moving and have been getting it again this past week :)
