Wiz6 has been beating the stuffing out of me for the past few days.

NightDiveStudios: Have you played Wizardry 6!? That game is tough! Only GOGCOM can kill the cave thraxe!
ohhh... now that you are here.... did you have anything to do with the gog version of Wiz 6-8? or are these two (the gog version, and the steam version) completely unrelated? or is there some sort of NDA's going on....

GOGCOM is our hero!
This thread has inspired me. From now on I will name all characters and profiles in games I play 'GOGCOM the Priest'.

I will name my children GOGCOM, too.

amok: I have feeling that after a certain amount of time we will see a silent change of publisher name her on GoG. It seems unlikely that whoever have the SirTech IP's (or the Wizardry IP's) are going to continue splitting them between two different publishers for the global market.
You're reading too much into it.

I can give you two immediate counter examples- if what you say is accurate then BitComposter would publish all versions of Expeditions: Conquistador. In fact, they publish only the steam version (specifically done to subvert greenlight) and here, gamersgate and everywhere else the game is self published. There's also the BGEE situation, go to Beamdog and the BGEE is self published, yet Atari released the game onto the other portals without even telling Overhaul about it in advance. While split publishers are unusual and can lead to complications like the Drakensang situation they are not unheard of, and publishing does not mean any ownership rights, just a licensing deal.
Only 1 thing i need to know... if there is a chance these titles might leave gog.com

if they are i need to buy them quickly.
One question:

Has Steam fixed the window size issue?
avatar
amok: Edit: I must add that I like the Steam description page of Wiz 6:

"FULL-COLOR ANIMATED graphics
DIGITIZED sound (NO add-on cards required)
HARD DISK supported "
Not to mention:
"Ten years ago, WIZARDRY set the standards in Fantasy Role-Playing (FRP)"

Did they just copy and paste it from some text from 2001?

I really don't think so. Night Dive has the Steam publishing rights, GOG has the ... GOG publishing rights. :)

For Wizardry Gold? Is there anything that could be done about that since it's fixed at 640x480?

I assumed these were the GOG versions on Steam, but maybe ND did their own work since Mac versions were included. Hey GOG, get more Boxer-embedded games on here!

Shut up, he was about to buy them.

Yes, Starkrun they are leaving, buy them, play them. >:)
wee, sorry to resurrect this. But got an "answer" back from @NightDiveStudio:

"Because we published it on Steam and they published it on GOG. The rights to game licenses can sometimes get... messy."

And this one is about the first System Shock (I'm not the one who asked in this case)

The best you could do would be to set the game to run in 640x480 compatibility mode so it fills the screen as much as possible.

Time to move the publishers name into the small print. No real meaning behind that. It's just somebody who holds some rights to it and receives the money.
