RPGs are gettings alot of attention on Kickstarter recently. It's moved from studios hoping to get a few tens of thousands to get their project working, to now where it's moved into hundreds of thousands and into the millions of dollars. A number of RPGs have been quite succesful but the best looking space game so far doesn't look like it will make it. After Homeworld, Nexus; the jupiter incident is my my favourite tactical space game. Nexus 2 is into the hundreds of thousands but it doesn't look like it will reach the minimum.

Now that we are seeing so many genres and styles of games being ressurected. What genre or style of game would you like to see worked on (which isn't currently being worked on). Urgh, I'm tired. Night all.

With this post, you have now done more to spread the news about the Nexus Kickstarter than the people running it. Which explains why it isn't doing well.

Yeah, I'm a bumming big time. Wudda really loved to see this one made, being a big fan of the space sim/strategy genre (and the original Nexus). They say on the kickstart page they they will continue to try and get it made by exploring other avenues,regardless of how the kickstarter effort turns out, but failing so badly trying to raise their minimum on there, doesn't bode well for the future me thinks. Gonna hold out some hope, cuz, basically that's all there is :( Sadly, this isn't far from the truth. They never really seemed to exude a lot of effort or enthusiasm from the get-go, at least to me...especially when comparing their effort to other kickstarters.

I really love the first game. It's one of my favorites. If this game doesn't happen, I'll be pretty disappointed. =\

Not surprised. First Nexus wasn't really well known to mainstream gamers, also, it's 4X strategy game, the genre that's almost extinct.

Nexus isn't really a 4X strategy game as I understand it - plus the 4X genre is doing okay (relative to other genres with past glory I can think of). Space sims are not and tactical space RTS games like Nexus were always thin on the ground.

Honestly there are a ton of great modern strategy games, from old school style to modern, which limits desperation and nostalgia vibes for kickstarter.

In comparison old school RPGs are extremely few and far between without kickstarter.

It's pretty much fault of the devs. I have not seen a single attempt of theirs to spread the word. Which is a shame, really. ... and none remotely similar to Nexus, which is why every fan wants it to happen so badly. Not a 4X, a tactical space battle game. You have a few ships under your command and you target subsystems, direct power, order squadrons around, use boarding parties... There's just a hell lot that you can do, really.

It's really frustrating to see that the devs are doing such a poor job with this Kickstarter. They
really don't seem to give a fsck. If you want people to give you over half a million dollars you should at least post some actual updates every once in a while and maybe reply to comments.

I suck at RTS so I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't reach the goal.

It's RTT with active pause, so it's far more about planning ahead and tactics than about fast clicking.

I'm not big on the genre myself (lack of exposure) but am re-posting the link in a friend's game group on (crappy social media site dot com), as I know several of the folks there will be excited about this one.

D&D in space? I'm listening...

Ok, maybe I will be sad if it doesn't reach the goal. In any case, the devs seem like they are going to do as much marketing for this as they did the first. None.
