I heard that GTA5 is also suppose to be coming to the PS4/XBone too. It might well have been rubbish gossip, but given all the other games being re-released I can see it happening.

People have spent a lot on their new consoles, and they need something to play on them. The companies know this and they also know that people will happily spend money on a shinier version of something they already own (new is always better(!)). So while they wait for all the new AAA games to become ready they will happily repackage the old and charge full price again for a few little tweaks.

xxxIndyxxx: There have never been less need for next gen as now... Somehow a lot of people believed the lie we needed new consoles but that just wasn't true.
Xbox 360 launched in 2005, PS3 in 2006. Do you honestly believe that over 7 years old hardware does not warrant a replacement?
I for myself think it's a good time to find out what console gaming is about by buying a previous gen console. With apparently no advantages over the PC yet attracting my curiosity (and having switched my old tube for a led-TV 2 weeks go) a secondhand PS3 will be an improvingly cheap buy over the coming months, even more so if I 'll be patient enough to wait till Christmas.

Yeah I do. They should have perfected games on the system first and while they did that work 2 years on next gen games before release a console with no games. When you look at the last of us of beyond two souls or gtaV you can see that there was still potential there. Sure the hardware was old but now that they have new hardware nothing impressive is being done with it at this moment. And they are 9 months out now? The technically most impressive games were probably infamous second son, Ryse and Killzone. Let's face it they are really not impressive. I at least expected solid 60fps on 1080p but killzone and second son did not do that, while looking not amazingly better then the best looking last gen games. I have pc games that look and run better on hardware that.s 3 years old.

Yes, and they generally barely run @30 FPS, upscaled 720p and 60-70 FOV. They already have perfected games for Xbox 360 and PS3. What's happening now is pushing the consoles way beyond their limits, and we're still stuck with 7 years old technology. I'm damn sure that next year, somebody would say 'Oh yeah, they should have come out in 2016'

Everything you're saying could have been said upon release of Xbox 360 and PS3 as well. These systems are slow burners, and it'll take time before actually great titles get released. It would happen regardless of the console's release date and is caused by studios concentrating on systems which are out, not on those which might come out eventually.

I get that (i am not saying you are wrong) but that means you get a lot of mediocre games the first 2 years, making it a very questionable purchase. The whole idea of launching a console when developers barely have time to develope something for it, is wrong I think even if I understand why...

...yet the ultimate question is, why would you buy console in the first place?
There is also a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare collection announced.

I agree that the real next gen games are slim pickings which I why I haven't picked up a PS4 yet. I have no problem with the rereleases though, people apparently want them. (Dark Souls II and GTA V are still being asked for on PS4/One big time)
The graphics aren't even that great. There's a new Wolfenstein game and I can Nazi the difference between versions.
Drop consoles, go PC. Problem solved!

Exclusive titles?

For example Metal Gear Solid, Last of Us, Uncharted, God of War.

old consoles -> everything can be played on pc with an emulator.
new consoles -> you'll play those very FEW good games on future emulators or pc ports.

Illegally.

Well, emulation is not legal because you must DUMP console bios. And even if it was legal, I have a crappy PC, and I doubt I can run PS2 titles properly :D

Generally emulation requires a very good PC.

I like more "PC exclusives" and am not interested enough in console ones to actually pay for the console and games besides. But fair enough if you really like the console exclusives i suppose :)
