I saw this on the Codex, and decided to repost it here. Definitely going to be interesting news for GOGers. Probably false, but who knows.
UPDATE: A spokesperson for Nexon has told Eurogamer that its "policy is to never comment on rumors".

ORIGINAL STORY: Nexon, the South Korean publisher behind MMO behemoth Maple Story, has reportedly contacted EA about making a takeover bid.

A Bloomberg video report carried the story, which apparently originated in a South Korean newspaper.

"We have no idea how EA might have responded to this reported offer," said the newscaster.

When approached for more information by Eurogamer, an EA spokesperson responded that its "only comment on this is that we don't comment on rumors or speculation about our business".

We've been in touch with Nexon too and will update when we hear back.

Bloomberg's story added that EA's shares jumped "more than six per cent" following the news.

No matter how you feel about EA, this would be a bad, bad, bad thing to happen..
Well, I'd consider it poetic justice if the publisher whose main claim to fame is taking over renowned small studios, forcing them to release sub-par products, and then closing them down for not meeting expectations, met a similar fate ...

... but I doubt it'll happen.
I did not know Nexon was that huge. The more you know and all that jazz.
EDIT: Oh, it appears my imaginations were wrong. Nexon is not that big... I don't know how they could buy EA....

I don't really see why this would be a bad thing. EA is shifting towards an always online multiplayer-orientated model of their own accord anyway. So what difference would it make?

Nah, it appears they have around 11.something billion $, according to that article

I don't think I've even heard of "Nexon" or "MapleStory" before, or if I have, I have forgotten. Oh well. Apparently you can become huge with free-to-play MMORPGs.

Next in the news I guess: Nexon buys out Microsoft, Apple and Google. Bwahahahaha!
Doubt this'll happen.

Future iterations of Windows will have microtransactions. Imagine the joy of having the freedom to purchase your own features! $0.99 for Taskbar, or add another $0.50 on top of that to include the Start Menu. Fun for the whole family!
Microsoft is actually around 5-6 times bigger than Nexon :P in revenue

in assets like 10 times bigger.

Or I'll just go and fetch another desktop manager rather than using Windows Explorer for that task, probably another file manager as well, as that likely won't be included in Microsoft's tablet-based future.

and this is why i claim it's a bad thing, I've always hated the F2P structure..F2P games should be called Demo2Play because that's what it is. You don't get a good portion of the game unless you lay down cash after cash. Microtransitions IMO ruin a game. First EA, THEN THE WORLD!!! :)

I prefer the term p2w

Pay 2 Win , like it is with Battlefield Heroes for example.

MapleStory is huge in Asia; next to Sudden Attack (a Lithtech Jupiter-powered CounterStrike-esque MMOFPS) it's the one game that all of the kiddies play in Korea. In fact, I think it's actually bigger than Sudden Attack because both it's popular among both boys and girls. The only other game aside from Sudden Attack that matches its popularity is Starcraft 2. I can only chuckle at what would happen. Are all of our digital downloads going from EA now to come with a side order of pickles/yellow radish and kimchi? (If you've been to Korea, you'll know what I mean.)

In all seriousness, while Nexon is likely a pretty big company - it does have enough money to buy EA - I don't see why it would...
