As some of you know, I'm building myself a decent gaming machine soon. So, in preparation, I'm adding a whole crap ton of newer games to my Steam wishlist. Games that I couldn't play before, but will be able to play now. I won't be buying all of them immediately--Serious Sam 3 is probably the only game I'll be getting as a "computer warmer"--but I'd kinda like to have a good list of titles to play eventually.

Here's what I have so far (starting with most wanted):

Serious Sam 3
Metro 2033
Just Cause 2
Bulletstorm
Crysis Warhead
Wolfenstein
Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena
STALKER SoC (already played, but need a new version)
Red Faction: Guerrilla (same deal)
Dear Esther
Deus Ex Human Revolution
Arma II
Necrovision
Hard Reset
E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy
Aliens vs Predator 2010
Red Orchestra II
Dreamkiller
Bioshock
Rage
The Darkness II
Bad Company 2

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for good games from around 2004-present. Well, of course you have suggestions... that's a long period of time. So hit me with them! I'd like to have a nice long wishlist to pick from for awhile. Keep in mind that I really love FPSs, so even "mediocre" FPS suggestions are welcome.
Please no, that's what steam and DRM is for.

He's not looking for suggestions for newer games that should be added to gog's library. He's looking for game recommendations that he will be able to play on his new and more powerful computer

Anyhoo OP , Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines.
I also enjoyed Singularity, since you mentioned you really enjoy FPSs

Oh, far out, I apologize then, that's what 8 hours of Fallout 2 does to the brain. I'll give some recommendations then:

Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity
Majesty Gold
Mount & Blade
Aliens Versus Predator Classic 2000
Arsenal of Democracy
Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth
Max Payne 1
Red Alert 2

That's about as new as I go.

Since you seem to like shooters I would think BRINK, Dead Island, and both Dead Space games should be on that list. I guess toss Deus Ex HR on the end as well.

Also, do yourself a favor and play Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

You can also add pretty much any game that came out this console generation... man that's a lot...
If you like RPGs you should play Witcher 1-2.
Witcher 2 would be a real test for your new rig.

Singularity is rather short and linear, though, isn't it? I wouldn't be opposed to getting it, it just never sounded like anything very...special. Not that I've looked into it much, mind you. If you think it's worth a look then I'll check it out.

Ahh, some good suggestions there. I have already played MP1, AvPC2K (actually one of my favorite games of all time), and Mount and Blade, however. And I'm still not sure how I feel about RTSs. But I added Call of Cthulhu, and I'll look at the names that I don't recognize.

I thought that Brink looked like a really really cool game when it was in development, but the fact that it wasn't a big hit makes me wonder if it would have enough of a community to support the multiplayer that it seems to focus on. Or, is the SP worth playing in itself?

Batman games sound cool, but perhaps not exactly my style.

Dead Island... aww, what the heck. I might as well. Killing zombies in an open world... should be fun!

Get Singularity.
Blacksite: Area 51
Call of Juarez 1 + 2
Medal of Honor (2010) and Medal of Honor: Airborne
Prey (rather gross in some parts)
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction

These are mostly older but still enjoyable if gotten in the bargain bin. Splinter Cell: Conviction was more action than stealth but 3rd person.
Let me see. Some of the games I love quite a lot these years, not sure if I miss any.

Openworld RPG:
TES series
new Fallout series
Mount and Blade series

Story telling RPG:
The Witcher series
Mass Effect series
Dragon Age series

Strategy:
Total War series
Hearts of Iron series

Shooters:
Serious Sam series
Boarderlands

Space Simulation:
X series

Sports & Racing:
FM series
Burnout Paradise (PC version misses quite some DLC content though)

Puzzle & Adventure:
Portal series
Lego Harry Potter

Yeah, but so is Bulletstorm and a few other games on your list and you said you even enjoy mediocre shooters, so I figured I'd throw that one on too. It doesn't do anything amazing but it was enjoyable and fun enough for me. I bought it on sale for $7.50, so that probably factored into my enjoyment of it.

jefequeso: Brink
Well, I don't think all the servers are dead, but it was a bit of a dud. The movement in the game is novel enough that a lot of folks pick up for 5 bucks when it's on sale and play it a bit.

The latest Deus Ex is on sale right now. Good test for your new graphics capabilities.
Metro 2033 is amazing... that game almost had me crying... Make sure to play it on the hardest difficulty.
