It's free to play for a while, Unfficial patch make's this game playable on modern PC's.. also it have small but still active community that allways is welcome to see more player's.

Mythos doesnt ask much unless you want to buy stuff out there in game shops, then you will need to add funds and convert them to "Bones" but from what I saw in the shop, dont bother.

It is, but even in the lower leagues (in which a friend of mine is) there is a very tough competition with a lot of hectic during a match. He doesn't like it anymore and quitted Starcraft 2. And if you go to the forums and ask a "noob-like" question, you usually get disqualified for the low league you play in.

Some people take the game too serious...

Have you heard of Entropia Universe? It's a "free to play" mmorpg. It has a Real Cash Economy but you get to decide how much (if any) you debosit. And a few people even make a living playing it (very few and they have invested serious amounts to get where they are). But it's possible to play it without debositing (altough might be a bit boring in the long run but you can get by just well with a 10-15 dollar debosits / month)

You're from Finland and speak finnish right? Entropia Universe has a active and relatively big finnish community. As a new player I would suggest joining Fintropia Revolution. It has a good punch of helpful and newbie friendly finns (myself included). Just choose Planet Calypso when/if you decide to join.

Since Entropia has a real cash economy it asks a lot of personal information (real name, address etc) and if you want to debosit you have to give some bank details(bank card) or use paypal equivalent (can't remember what it was since I don't use it).

If MMOs count, try Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO), it's free to play and you can go very far on free content (don't waste the points you earn, you'll want to buy new Adventure Packs with them).

Otherwise, I'll say Torchlight 2 when it comes out should be pretty easy on the lighter difficulties, and this one will have co-op play.

Until that comes out you could play Titan Quest, but it can get pretty hard in some areas. It's also an action RPG.

Aim towards co-op games rather than competitive, this is where people are happy to carry you a bit.

MW2 is pretty much known as the worst community even among FPS games. My buddy plays a lot of Bad Company (2 or whatever it is), I know he's not outstanding but still manages to have fun.

A smaller FPS that you might like, if you must have one, is Monday Night Combat (MNC), try and find a friendly group that won't throw an epic fit if you screw up while you're learning.

Entropia looks...umm...difficult? I'm quite sceptic about investing real money to a game (after purchase, that is) :)

I have Titan Quest, it's fun to play with friends (when the buggers have time...)

Magicka too looks interesting, but I would see that more like a LAN game, with friends and in the same apartment?

I'm actually intrigued with the Conan and Lotr online games, might check them out (provided that they are free to play).

Yeah, I didn't exactly enjoy playing MW online, it was something rather horrible. Maybe it's just the fact that I don't have the FPS skills the game needs. It is just too competitive and, for the lack of a better word, hectic.

And I might add that I'm quite poor at "making acquaintances" with random players, especially when they expect me to know everything about the game right away :)

Maybe GOG-gamers should make their own guild in some MMO :D

Team Fortress 2 is the easiest multiplayer game for a newb.

It depends on the company, Turbine doesn't ask for CC info if you aren't buying anything, but pretty much all of them want home address and name (mostly this is for retrieving accounts I think - initially I felt this stuff was nefarious, now I just think the simplest explanation is it's easier for most folks and for support staff).
I think LotRO is way more boring than DDO (both Turbine games) you might try DDO first (make sure to uninstall that crap Pando Media Booster the installer includes, you don't need it even for patching).

Age of Conan used to be pretty hardcore, I don't think it's broken anymore, but I think it's more of a time sink than the two Turbine MMOs.

Entropia doesn't cost a thing unless you want it to. It's free to download and play. Debositing is voluntary.

And the difficulty level isn't harder than other mmorpgs imo (altough you won't gain levels quite as easy as other games so it might feel like your avatar is "stuck" more often than in other mmorpgs). Moving is pretty simple and you don't even have to aim with a gun if you don't want to so reflexes play a very small part in it. However it might get boring if you just choose being a non-debositor and sweat all the time (that's right I said sweat. You gather sweat from animals and sell it to other players for small amounts of money but it is hard work).

I definitely would not recommend Starcraft I/II or Counterstrike 1.6.
Those games are both as "hardcore" as it gets really.

MMOs are a solid pick really. You meet a lot of assholes but hey, that's life. Most of the people are actually decent.

I was about to say something about CounterStrike. I played it for a while and, just from my experience, people seem to take that game a little bit too seriously. I played several servers and I never once found one that was accepting towards newbie screw-ups (ironically, even the one titled "NEWBIES WELCOME" had an elitist dislike towards newbies). On top of that (and maybe it's just because I suck at online FPS'ing), I found the difficulty from the servers I was playing on to be a bit above what I could do when I started off. I eventually just became disinterested with the game as a whole.

So then I take it that it's a bad sign when I've been playing it for three months or so and I still suck horrendously? Either way, though, people seem to be generally nicer on most of the TF2 servers I've played on as opposed to other FPS games. Then again, maybe it's just my luck.

I'd also like to throw out another recommendation for DnD Online.
A fun game, that it is.

It's not like that. In CS, more than in any other shooter, cooperation is a key. When one person screws up, mostly the whole team is screwed up.

For a begginer I would rather recommend Day of Defeat. It's also hc game, but if you get killed stupidly, it's not a big loose for team.

Since it's going F2P here soon, City of Heroes is really n00b friendly, and it's also very friendly to casual players, and tit's PvP is a joke.
