Be on the lookout for relatively new scam-spam with messages like "YouTube Administration sent you a message: Illegal video warning‏" and "Apple App Store: Your order (ID: XXX:#####) has been cancelled". The return addresses look something like "AppStore@apple.com" or "support@youtube.com", which look more legitimate than addresses that end in "@not-fake-apple.com" etc, but if your browser supports link previewing, hover your mouse cursor over the link and look at the destination address at the bottom of your browser, and it'll probably be somewhere that's not Apple.com or YouTube.

I'm not sure what Google/YouTube's fraud dept's address is, but if you get any of these Apple ones, forward them to "reportphishing@apple.com".

I just got one of these email in my Gmail junk folder. It looked legit at first!

I got one of those Apple ones the other day. I don't even own anything Apple related, I just flagged it as a phishing email and moved on.

This really cracks me up. Not because he is using a mac or anything, but consider him as an immune system of someone who spent a few years in a sterile room.

Macs are getting hit pretty hard with scams and malware now. The days of Mac owners relying on obscurity for protection seem to be over.

Hmm, Tom's just did an article about some new Mac Malware called "Mac Defender" or "Apple Security" the other day as well. Seems miscreants are finally getting around to targeting the OS a bit more. Welcome to the club my fellow Maccies :-).

Not to feed a troll but I am yet to see an OS that is proof against a user installing malware themselves.. Windows is no worse and OS X no better than any other one at this!

Just got 2 of the YouTube scam mails.

Titles were "Video Approved" and "Illegal Video Warning" - neither of which are actual types of emails that YouTube sends [the closest is their copyright takedown email, but the title is different].

NOTE: The sender fails the MX sender verification for google - this should tip your mail client off that it is SPAM (Thunderbird picked up on the failed verification and displayed a warning it might be a scam, I don't know if Outlook looks deeply into the headers/source though)

MSN/Hotmail changed a bunch of settings around lately. I'm having trouble getting messages to show "Full Return Addresses" or whatever.
