I don't get it, why use the XCOM name even? Not like that is going to draw in the many shooter fans who never heard of XCOM.

As a sequel to XCOM I can see hating it.
On its own merits though I think it looks nice. Bright and colorful with clean lines, which is a graphical style I personally really enjoy (same thing with the new Darkness 2 trailer). Also the weapons and action look lovely, and I like the idea of building a base and new weapons in an FPS.
Color me interested.

Yeah, it's kind of weird. Like having a Bladerunner TV show that's a domcom. Why? Who knows.
Actually, I think I know the reason. To hold on to the trademark. Or maybe their ownership of the property is contingent upon its use. Like how Hollywood will occasionally make cheap movies just to keep the property, as was the case for the never released Fantastic Four film.

But if there going to bother making a game with XCOM as the title why not just actually make a Remake the original XCOM? It's the one everyone knows a loves. Actually, I think I know the reason. It just seems like a waste of money to me to make another FPS... not like we don't have enough of those around.

XCOM? Did anyone see anything XCOM-related in that trailer?
Please, tell me that the devs are just trolling us with this half-assed shit and we will get a proper XCOM game. Please...

If they wanted a new proper X-COM but make it appeal to console gamers they could easily have gone with a Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six type game. Kept the squad tactics and the FPS they want while keeping the spirt alive. Instead we get BioCOM.

Actually, except for the fact that it has little do to with X-COM, it's looking nice.
Sure, I'd rather get a real X-COM and there are a lot of FPS's around, but they can still make a good one from time to time. I'll just sit and wait.
