What the...? How can they be... I mean... They... No. They can't be that stupid. They are deliberately trying to blow it. I can't see why, but it has to be this way.

Or don't they have enough time to produce enough consoles for a worldwide launch before christmas? oO

There have been rumors of manufacturing problems with the main chip for the system. The thing is fairly huge in processor terms as it has the 8 core CPU, the GPU and 32MB of ESRAM for the GPU. A couple of them stated Microsoft is considering downclocking the system a bit to try and get the number of good chips higher for launch.

If they are having any kind of problems, launching mainly in the markets they feel the have the best chance would make sense.

Microsoft has been murdered by Sony. I can't imagine anyone sane would choose XBONE over PS4.
Thank god I Bought a WiiU AGH HAHAHAHAhAHAHAHA MicroShaft Can piss off and stick to PC's ONLY!
One of my biggest pet peeves is using features which don't require always online to justify always online.

Automatic updates!
Friends!
Coop!
Messaging!

None of this fucking requires my Xbox console connect to the internet every 24 hours. I could even argue none of this requires me to register the game with you, if you build the client/interface correctly. And yet time and time again these sorts of basic features are used to justify DRM or a persistent online requirement.

I know he can't say "well we have to check to make sure you own your games," as that would be a bad PR quote, but this corporate bullshit just drives me up the wall and makes me never want to support Microsoft, DRM or not. All these companies just drive me away with the FAKE FAKE FAKE bullshit. It's just like my rich uncle who lives in California, they're all the same, these corporate White guys.

Anyway...

Yeah, I'm actually quite happy I bought a Wii U, even if it is getting used more for Wii games than Wii U games (Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate notwithstanding, which is an awesome game). Certainly looking forward to the Wind Waker remake, Mario 3D World and Wonderful 101.

And yet it was precisely these features that the Hammer Legion were using to defend the supposed necessity of Steam when that became a topic of discussion, even though XFire had been offering friends/messaging/matchmaking and even automatic updates years before.

I get that these features do need an online connection, and I get that they do have their uses. What I don't get is why we have to have them shoved down our throats just so we can have DRM forced upon us (a criticism I'd apply equally to Origin and Uplay as well)

Yeah.

Steam offers a ton of benefits but none of them require the DRM, as the list of DRM free games on Steam should prove. People just defend it because they don't care. I admit I care very little on PC, because the PC platform makes it easy to circumvent the DRM if we ever need to.

Can't say that for Xbox One.

This whole mess only exists because of the ability to play without the disc, a feature many users didn't care about or we wouldn't see so many say they'll go for the PS4 instead; for those that do care about disc-free play Microsoft has already promised digital downloads will be available the same day as the retail versions. It's a disaster of their own making.

A simple concept explained superbly, and I'm surprised more people don't understand it.

Known in other words as "if you're too lazy to get up and change the disc, or too careless to look after your stuff, why should it be my problem?" ;-)

As if "Stick with the 360 if you don't have internet" or "If you’re backwards compatible, you’re really backwards" and "Xbox One is designed so game publishers can enable you to give your disc-based games to your friends" weren't bad PR quotes...

They could have said that games on XBox One rely heavily on cloud based features. There's Forza 5 (a racing game), for example, where the AI will copy the driving styles of other players. The AI evovles through the input of millions of players. They could have highlighted it, because that's something really awesome. Okay, probably not for a racing game, since we don't want the AI turning into a crash kid. But imagine that in other games. A shooter with a few really challenging enemies instead of those typical cannon fodder enemies, coming in wave after wave just to get headshot after headshot, not recognizing that it's a stupid idea to stand still on an open field, or, the other extreme, hide behind a box until the player comes to kill them with a knife.

The evolving AI is something everyone understands, because current AI (or: the lack of AI) is something that nearly everyone is complaining about. Tell people that servers can calculate better AI, that can adapt to your playstyle. That's awesome and a real feature. If I want messaging, I turn on my PC or tablet and not my video console. I don't want to chat with a controller. It's not a feature, it's a bug.
i just found the solution for all without a perma i-con...or better Don Mattrick, MS president for Interactive Entertainment Business
has posted it at gametrailers.com.....*Buy a XBox360*......
Wow, i would say...only that he misspelled a word...*Buy a PS4*

The One is dead, at last for me. But lets wait the release maybe it tops the WiiU.
Amazon has already sold out of one category of PlayStation 4 and expect to sell out of all of them within a day or two. Still plenty of XBone's though :)

Addition - weirdly the 'category' Amazon sold out of was the 'Launch Edition'. They've since come out saying 'Launch' and 'Standard' are both exactly the same. Don't know WHY they listed them as different?

This is just a guess, but Launch is probably guaranteed by Sony. Standard isn't? Or an adjustment to launch numbers? But yeah PS4 is going out of stock everywhere.
