It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

keeveek: Chrome is one of the shittiest browsers avaible, at least for me. I was using Opera for a long time, but newer versions got some things wrong (again, for me), so know every browser I know suck or lack important features.

For example, speed dial in Firefox is a joke.
I wasn't a fan until I had to start making websites, but their sexy inspect element won me over. Firebug is ok but it feels clunky in comparison. Before I was a big Firefox fan, but it's the slowest of the three by far when trying to animate things. It does render certain things better like grads, but it's not worth the massive performance drag. Right now FF is in a, "I wan't to like you, but I don't know on what merits" zone with me.

Go Microsoft go :D
"Because every Xbox One owner has a broadband connection, developers can create massive, persistent worlds that evolve even when you’re not playing."

"With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies."

Ah, you gotta love when big corporations cluelessly alienate large portions of their customer base.
For example, I have internet connection, yes, but I usually connect my PS3 to internet ONLY to download something, and it's very rare for me.
There are months where I never log-in on PSN.

Someone pointed out elsewhere that the number of Xbox Live subscriptions is like 60% of the number of Xbox 360's sold. They're writing off a third of their customers.
Day one buy.

While I don't contest that many people do indeed have no internet connection (or a very poor one), it's probably worth noting that the reason many 360 users didn't subscribe to Xbox Live was because they objected to having to pay to play online (or just didn't want to play online).

Irony or idiocy?

Neither - it will be day one buy for ignorant soldiers who will then make angry youtube videos and entertain us.

Irony then. Man, my heart just skipped a beat. I still find it impossible to believe that anyone would be stupid enough to actually buy this console in full knowledge of the facts :)

But yes, the shit will indeed hit the fan when the masses of preorderers finally realise what the situation is. I've been hearing from a few that they weren't aware of the online requirement and DRM, and some of them (usually the hardware Xbox fanboys), refuse to believe it. Some of them are from my home village and only have dial-up internet, which should be entertaining to see. Others still rely on selling their used games to buy new ones, and they won't accept that the Xbox One will make this very difficult indeed.

Yes, both reasons you listed were reasons I didn't subscribe to XBL. My internet connection is good, but I still will not buy the new console. It looks like Sony will have a major victory here if they don't employ the same stupid decisions.

The always on Kinect plus this piece of news should be enough to creep people:

http://www.theverge.com/2013/6/6/4403868/nsa-fbi-mine-data-apple-google-facebook-microsoft-others-prism

Also, the NSA is building a new data centre. All that voyeur stuff needs to be stored somewhere:

https://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2013/06/06/nsa-to-build-860-million-hpc-center-in-maryland/

But hey, "If you do nothing wrong you shouldn't be worried!" Right? Riiiight?
If developers know they can make extra money from pre owned games then surely they will force Sony to follow suit with the PS4? I really hope not though.

I have a hard time wrapping my head around this whole "you can watch Live TV without an internet connection".

Either they're talking about regular TV in which case I really don't see how they could even try to disallow a service they're not directly providing, or they're talking about web-based TV in which case it would be kinda hard to watch it without a connection.

There must be something I'm not getting here...

Well, don't you think it's mightily generous of Microsoft to let you watch TV on your TV even while you don't have internet? ;)
With this shitstorm I may join the darkside next gen...Plus Sony seems to be the only one to give a **** about Europe.
