I challenge you to try and use IE9 or IE10 for a few days, the 64-bit version with Enhanced Protection Mode and SmartScreen enabled. :p If you need Adblock-like functionality, then just install a Tracking Protection List (I am using my own, and have total control of what is blocked and what isn't).

Anyways, people should really move on, yes IE was stagnated for a long time because the 7th version was linked with Vista's release, which by the time it was released, many new things were being used on the Internet, but we are not 2006 anymore. :)

I challenge myself not to take such a silly risk and for Microsoft to prove themselves instead.

But they have already proved themselves. Stop living in the past. :p

In the time it took them to prove themselves people already got used to other browsers. Anyway, everybody knows that the most important function that IE has is allowing us to download Google Chrome :P

But I agree IE made huge improvements these past 4 years. Not my cup of tea still.

Safari apart (never used) I think Firefox is the current shittiest in my opinion, chrome is far more responsive and that's the important thing for me (relative safetiness being supposed).
chrome has issues, but do fine by me.

I like that if I login with my gmail account I have my bookmarks, opened tabs, and omnibar data synchronized between my desktop PC and my Android phone. It has made browsing the web on my phone so much better.

Isn't it the same with Opera + Opera mini and Firefox + whatever mobile app they made?

I already have a gmail account so I might as well use it. I tried Opera for my phone but I didn't like it.

Of course, what suits everybody the best ;-)

Yeah, IE has definitely improved security-wise from the bad old days of IE6/7 - credit where credit is due.

It's not so much that IE is a bad browser, but rather the circumstances that necessitated the market shift to Firefox. IE was appallingly bad at the time, and Firefox was a free and much more secure alternative. IE has now caught up, and Firefox seems to be slipping a little in terms of security of late, but the differences aren't really severe enough to have to adapt to a new browser again. Plus, IE is for Microsoft platforms only, while FIrefox, Chrome and Opera are all multiplatform, which is a boon if you sync bookmarks and history between devices.
