SirPrimalform: Blockbuster still exists over there? They're closed down here, but before they closed down they sold games and consoles quite a lot.

RayRay13000: Eh...they're still around here and there where I'm at. I knew they sell games as well as rent them, but haven't really heard of them selling consoles or handhelds.
This seems to be a major conflict of interest, all things considered. Selling a console that will damage their rental sales?

I like the way these guys think :D

Summit: Besides talking to my TV set and waving my arms in front of it would make me feel like an idiot. I can't help it.
I do this at times during some of the hard spots in games I play, and sorry to say, quite often during hockey games, lol. I know I look like an idiot, but I can't help myself ;-)
kinda hard to reconcile the xbox one with the IE advert that just came on tv claiming "your privacy is our priority", such two faced nonsense

IE offends users' privacy?

Well, let's just say that Internet Explorer has the reputation of a...well traveled lady of the night.

Who isn't actually a lady.

Well, seeing as I already talk to my TV, it looks like when this tech enters my living room guests will once again believe I am normal. Until they view me in the kitchen. Is there any tech on the horizon for talking to toasters or microwaves?

Don't understand the phrase. :)

Not sure, but a fridge with an adaptive cooling technology would be quite neat. Say 'Fbox (for a lack of a better name), cool the beer', and it would automatically cool just the beer (being a smart fridge and all that it would know exactly the beer is.

It has a reputation of being a giant security hole.

And UPlay has a reputation of being "Online connection required at all times, if you lose connectivity, game exits" as well. Have you tried either of those programs in the last year or so, or are you just repeating what was "current" 6 years ago?

Nope. :V I've avoided them like plague rats. I don't even have Steam!

In which case you may be interested to know that IE9 and IE10 are notsecurity holes. XP may be a bigger security hole than the current versions of IE, and since XP can only go up to IE8, that does mean security holes galore.
And IE10 when run as a 64-bit application is even more secure as well.

But still less secure than competing browsers due to a lack of helpful utilities like noscript and adblock plus.

Enhanced Mode (aka 64-bit) only allows controls that are 64-bit (and I think signed as well). Add to it the fact that it doesn't require Adobe Flash (it has its own flash implementation), and you've also removed quite a few threats. True, scripts may still be executed, but not everything, and I'm not sure if it will allow access to the system.
And I'm 90% sure that the metro version doesn't allow any access to the filesystem, other maybe from the open and save dialogs, but for that you will have to ask Elenarie.
This new console looks pretty good.
