so after watching and reading all available information my conclusion is that (for me) the last xbox was seriously the last.
This media center with gameplaying addition that can watch your every move in the room is something i don't need.
Anyway there are so many games for my old box that i haven't played and the possibility that i will buy a PS3 (yes 3 not 4)

cogadh: Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but a quote from MS regarding backwards compatibility:

"If you're backwards compatible, you're really backwards"

johnki: Another link: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/don-mattrick-if-youre-backwards-compatible-youre-really-bac/

Yeah, right now, I think they're completely fucking themselves over.

"Mattrick said only 5 percent of customers play games from previous generations on new consoles"
I wonder how they came up with that figure, and on what systems? And was that a question of playing "ever", or "mostly"?

XBox360: I can understand most people didn't play old XBox games on it, as frankly the first XBox didn't have that great a collection. And I think there were quite a lot of new XBox360 owners that didn't have an older XBox before.

PS3: Well, they kinda killed the backwards compatibility there, so no surprise if most PS3 users didn't play PS2 games on it.

PS2: I would be surprised if only 5% of PS2 owners ever played any PSOne backlog on their new PS2 console.

No idea about the situation on Nintendo consoles...

Yeah... Microsoft is the other company on the list that is pushing me further into being a PC exclusive gamer this generation. The PS4 didn't really wow me, the Wii U has a couple of things going for it but ultimately did not wow me, now Microsoft's Xbox One just makes me disgusted with an entry in the new line of consoles. A water cooler TV semi-game console huh? That's a load of BS, it pretty much looks like a console built from the worst that the 360 has to offer right now with added features that are just too damn gimmicky for their own good. Honestly, with places like Steam and GOG offering a wide variety of games to purchase at decent prices, the ability to do all those nifty multimedia features that are being touted, have a stupidly large amount of backwards compatibility, and be able to customize it to have better specs than the next-gen consoles, the PC is looking like the better option for gaming right now in my eyes.

At the same time they are trying to push you to become an XBox gamer in Windows 8, with their adverts for XBox games that you see inside Windows 8, or branding some gaming-related apps in Windows 8 with "XBox" etc.

Maybe their idea then really was after all that only mobile app-type games would be played on "PCs" (or rather, Windows tablets/smartphones), and for Real Gaming you should use their XBox consoles.

I am sad to say that the only game Microsoft showed that interested me is Call of Duty Ghost since I want to see the dog, because they actually used a real dog in motion capture clothing and performed.

If these guys go as a far motion capturing a real dog for this game than it at least should be an intersting sinlge-player campaign, and of course its not just about the dog.

MS made it clear before the reveal this was a reveal of the entertainment side of the xbox (how reporters didn't notice the whole "New world of ENTERTAINMENT" section of the invite beats me... E3 is the game announcements etc gamers are waiting on

I am aware of that, they used this conference to get rid of the boring stuff.

*sigh*

But can you play as the dog? I would love to be able to lick my own balls (just to test how realistic the dog motion capturing is in the new CoD).

Only if the Kinect determines you are flexible enough to do so.
The announcement was so bad it was as if Nintendo and Sony had hijacked it and decided to run a smear campaign against Microsoft. This has probably already been posted, but this highlights reel sums it up perfectly:

And spending $400 million on an NFL license? A sport that no one watches anywhere on Earth apart from in one country? A country the Xbox already does very well in, while it's all the other countries it lagged behind the PS3 in? Nice move, MS... It's like if a console was mainly popular in the Cotswolds area of England, so its creator spent £300 million on a license to televise the downhill cheeserolling championships.

cogadh: I don't think it will fail horribly, but I think MS has hurt its standing with the "core gamer" crowd at this point, where Sony has done a lot to raise their standing. I think this cycle is Sony's to lose now. As long as they don't do anything monumentally stupid, they will come out on top, but it won't be a landslide victory.

Frankly, the fact that both Sony and MS went with standard PC architecture for their respective systems might turn out to be a boon for PC gaming. Now when a game is ported, it won't be the usual "crappy console port" with substandard graphics and such, it will be more or less a 1:1 conversion that looks and plays great on all systems. In theory, at least.

anjohl: It won`t fail, since the sheep cannot go without their `New Shiny`(tm), in modern terms, the newest Call of Duty, Madden, etc.

What will be interesting is to see if M$ `falling on their sword`, harming their profitability and marketshare in order to eradicate used game sales and piracy will be a worthwhile gamble, and if Sony and Nintendo will follow suit. In essence, after M$ does it this gen, Sony and Nintendo have virtually no reason NOT to next gen, and every reason to do so. Should be interesting. By the way, anyone that buys one of these things is fucking clinically insane.

And as always, that is demonstrable, objective fact.
I'm not so confident in the sheeple this time around. There is definitely an anti-Xbox vibe going around, even from the Xbox faithful. While some of the things MS has done with this machine might have been inevitable, taken all together it is too much, too soon for a lot of people and I think that will be reflected in Xbox sales. We can only hope that if the Xbox One does prove to be the loser in this generation's console wars, they realize that it is because of things like the DRM....

Who am I fooling, this is the games industry, they won't realize a damn thing.
Lets see, They should have named it Xbox DRM instead of Xbox One.

-Required fee to play a used game, whether you buy it, rent it or borrow it from a friend.
-Forced internet connection once every 24 hours.
-Horrible Kinect gimmick expanded and shoved down our throats again so we can get more bad games like Star Wars Kinect.
-Xbox Live will still cost monthly fee despite gamer complaints
-Forced install of all games to HDD.
-Cloud service that if used by devs and likely will be pressured to use it to push its abilities will make even single player games require constant internet connection.
-Horrible.. TV gimmick.. Who the hell actually watches TV anymore? I watch all shows and videos on the net. Youtube, Netflix..etc.

Hell it makes Steam and it's DRM look great and GOG look amazing... well GOG already looked amazing.

AngryJoe said it best.

Bottom Line: Anyone that buys this PoS is either a complete ignorant casual that doesn't realize the BS this console represents. Or a complete impulsive moron that lacks any sort of will power to say no, just because they can't stand the thought they won't be able to play Halo 32 or Call of Doggy.

Xbox One? I say Xbox HELL NO!

You might want to look at world wide viewing figures there... NFL is getting more popular worldwide. At least it's not baseball where the 'world series'is only competed by one country :p (and yes I do know where the name comes from its a joke!) But yeah despite what you may think American football is a growing audience worldwide. Also 400million is not much really go look at the cost of the premier league... Add an extra 0 and you're close.
