I'm disappointed about the new Xbox.

Most of the time they try to convice us that we need a console to watch TV! I don't care about watching TV.

I'd like to hear of backward compatibility with Xbox 360's games and they say nothing.
Also they say nothing about DRM. But hearing repeatedly about cloud, I'm almost sure it will use (always) online DRM. For me that's enough reason not to buy.

Anyway it's a bit early to judge.

They mentioned both in other interviews and questions from the press.

There is no backwards compatibility with any 360 games, digital or disc.

Games have to be activated to attach them to your Xbox live account before you can play them. They are working on some kind of system to trade the license back in for credit that they plan to announce later. Also the system will work offline, but it needs to check in at least once every 24 hours to continue playing games.
After following the reveal all day and reading up on it, I can only make one conclusion about the new XBOX. I will always confuse it for the original XBOX and that it makes me indescribably sad.
As a mainly PC gamer I am really really happy. Good job Microsoft!

Yeah, but...TV.

:)
I guess next generation after that will be an PC wrapped in xbox colours? Why on earth would anybody need a tv tuner in a gaming console.

Thanks for the info.

The reason I bought Xbox 360 was the online DRM on PC, which is unacceptably intrusive to me.

It seems I can deside right now. I'm not going to buy Xbox One.

The GOG forums have disappointed me today. A community of retro gamers many either as old, or older than I, and not one comment on how this looks like a 1980's Betamax video recorder? Shame on you.

There you go Sony... MicroSoft has just handed you victory in the Next Gen console war
It sounds eerily like the TV room in psychonauts, I wonder if these people got their brains removed by a dentist too.

I don't think so.

As usual, Xbox will be soooo easy to crack (accidentaly, of course!) most of the world will have xbox console. Playstation was always hard to pirate, so it won't be that popular.

It's sad but true for most less wealthy countries.

And this really look like some old VHS tape recorder -.-

Thanks for that, that really brightened up my day!
One more gem for this console before I head to bed.

Microsoft's deal with the NFL will cost $400 million over five years.
"I will buy Xbox One, because it does one thing - play fucking television!!!" - Angry Joe

;P

By the way, "no more online passes" from EA was a pile of stinking shit, it seems. "No more passes but you will have to activate every xbox game that will be exclusively avaible on this console"

lolwut?

also, 500GB HDD for BluRay games with obligatory installation? This isn't going to end well.
