Sorry it's on the G4 website.
I should be really happy about this. We may finally be getting a sequel to one of the best space sims (which I haven't played)
OTOH, Lucasarts has been releasing crap lately. Not counting the Monkey Island games, because Telltale's behind them

I'm interested to learn more, to say the least! I loved X-Wing and Tie Fighter!

I for one liked Secret of Monkey Island SE, which was developed internally by LA. But to each his own.
Edit:
I wanted to add that LucasArts got my full support as of late, bringing their old classics back, and seemingly acknowledging the PC market again with the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which I still think looks like fun, in spite of the bashing from reviewers. I like the new direction the company appears to be taking. Too early to say how it will really end though, but looks promising at the moment.

Oops. I didn't really check up on the Monkey Island remake, so I assumed it was Telltale who did it. Is it the exact same game with improved graphics?

Pretty much, indeed. They also redid the music with real instruments, improved the background ambiance effects, and added some pretty fine voice acting with talents from the MI3 cast. You can even toggle between the original, classic game (SCUMM interface and all) and the new remake with the touch of a button. Other than that, it is still the MI1 I remember from the early 90's.

I got a friend of mine to buy it for his Xbox, and I watched/helped him for around the first 50-60% of the game (showed him a couple of secrets).
I have to say, I really wish that the telltale ones looked as good as that. It looked great (despite guybrush's wierd looking hair).
At the end there's apparantely a little hint that they might remake MI2:Lechucks revenge as well, which would rock, since that's my favourite one.
Back on topic... I would buy a decent Xwing/Tie fighter game in a heartbeat.
Things are looking up...
"The last major release in the series was X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter. I missed that one."
Looks like he missed X-Wing Alliance also, which is THE last major release in the series...
I just want a decent Tie Fighter remake with proper controls.
I would love a remake of both X-Wing and TIE Fighter. I'm not keen on X-Wing Vs TIE Fighter as that was more a multiplayer game. I picked up X-Wing Alliance on the Lucasarts Classics label a few years ago and thought it was pretty poor TBH.

Yeah, I'm more into single player games as well. BTW, I love your avatar. That's one of my favourite movies :-D
XvT wasn't one of my favorites, either since it really was just a multi-only experience, but I did get it, and a friend of mine and I lost a good number of hours syncing up our computers via modem to try and shoot each other down. We were pretty evenly matched, so a lot of our duels ended up going on and on and on with nobody ever really winning. Still... was pretty fun for the time.
Alliance just didn't have the same charm as the other games in the franchise, but at least it was something. I'd love for them to bring back the franchise. You just don't -see- space combat games, anymore. I miss the days of Wing Commander, X-Wing, TIE Fighter and the like. There's a reason why I always go back to them and games like Starlancer, Freelancer, Freespace, etc.
I grew up on that genre and it's depressing to see it seemingly forgotten. Especially given that with today's tech, they could make those kinds of games SO. DAMN. PRETTY. And if there's anything bombing around in a starfighter should be, it should be RIDICULOUSLY PRETTY.
Personally I thought XWA was a brilliant game, it was a good combination of character and story and even with the overly easy way you could get lost inside the second death star and end up in the firing chamber of the superlaser, the whole experience was terrific.
XWA had a single player expansion called Balance Of Power which really added a lot to the game, I picked up both cheaply because I wanted the single player part and it was really quite good.

I'm a big fan of Dogma. Gotta love Buddy Christ :D
are these going to be steam re-releases of the originals? or a completely new version
I absolutely loved TIE Fighter back in the day, and a proper remake or sequel would be awesome. Whether Lucas Arts of today actually can pull off a proper remake/sequel... that's another matter.
