As part of a follow-up interview with LucasArts president Darrell Rodriguez about plans for the months ahead, I asked Rodriguez for thoughts on a return of the company's lauded
His answer?
"We don’t have any announcements now, but stay tuned," said Rodriguez. "We will soon….."
By the way, that's his number of dots, not mine. We conducted the interview over e-mail. Five dots is far more mysterious than three dots, so I'm willing to bet I'm onto something here.
Whether it's a full-on remake ala The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition or an addition to the company's growing Steam lineup…well, who cares? Either one would be the first acknowledgement of a major part of LucasArts' legacy in a long, long time.

Could we dream about a GOG x-wing ?
Old news here...
And Rodriguez is no more LucasArts president, so...
Still want a new X-wing, though, or even the old ones here on GOG!

And why not Star Wars Rebellion ! :oD
For E3 2010, Maybe LucasArt will do one announce ?
If they do make a X-Wing like the original with all the flight controls, cockpit views and epic missions hell yeah. If they're gonna make a new "X-Wing" like what people are doing to the new "X-COM" then hell no and please leave my beloved classics in peace.
Also X-Wing, TIE Fighter and X-Wing Alliance on GoG please.

I was so excited for Rebellion Reloaded, and that other Remake that was going on by a fan. Too bad they disappeared. Though SWRebellion is still going quite strong.
The X-Wing vs TIE Fighter series must have been the biggest disappointment of Lucas Arts so far at the time for me. "Yes! Let's release a game that sucks in single player but say it's for multiplayer at a time when only 5% of PC gamers has access to Internet on their PC!".
Of course, magazines loved it because most magazines
a) had plenty of people who love such games
b) had a good local network
c) had several gaming PCs connected to it
For a regular gamer, he had none of the above except maybe a)
But dang, I loved TIE Fighter. I didn't like X-Wing as much because it was less polished but TIE Fighter kicked ASS. The cut scenes made me giddy at the time as well. I even dragged my father to the PC to make him watch too (I was 14 at the time, so I can be excused ;) ).

What are you smoking?
The games had very good single player parts and most people played that instead of "online".

I think YOU have been the one smoking something since it's been pretty much generally considered crap in single player compared to TIE Fighter. That's why they made Balance of Power, the expansion pack, because Lucas Arts had received a LOT of complaints because the original game was a poor single player one without a proper campaign. I can even scan the interview if I can find it for you where they openly say this.
Yeah, X-wing vs Tie was basically a Star Wars space combat "simulator" of sorts. TIE fighter was and still is the best of it's kind.

Agreed.
I did enjoy XW vs TIE, but the missions for TIE Fighter were amazing. I'd love to see them all on GOG though, I could imagine some good multiplayer matches!
do you know if the GOG team will contact LucasArt for the x-wing serie ?

They probably gave the LucasArts blowjobs a long time ago. They never called back.
A remake doesn't fill me with confidence as I would imagine it would be designed for the Xbox360 controller. Releasing the classics however would be very welcome.
Well Lucasarts apparently have a new ceo/president/boss so there's always a possibility that a new face might change the company stance and let us actually buy their games regardless of age
