In my opinion, some people were out of line with langurmonkey. I don't think he's over reacting (however, in his place I wouldn't have ask for excuses, because it's too often firestarter-ish )

Everyone is different. Some people are like this, some people are like that. There is a lot of people like me, who don't take insults, lightly.

This depends on if I'm in a good mood or bad mood.
Everything is cultural. One of the reasons, there is hostility between me and some people here is that me and these people have cultures that are very incompatible with each other. They don't like the way I'm behaving. But in my culture, the way I behave towards people is totally acceptable and people who don't like it are just over sensitive over PC people who are used to people only telling them what they want to hear as if everyone around them is customer service etc. Then people insult me because in their eyes, I'm misbehaving or being a huge douchebag by calling someone "crazy" even though I can back it up. In my eyes, my behavior was justified and feel I do not deserve this treatment from people so I insult them back. Sounds like the history of the world, doesn't it? Countries insulting each other, waging war against each other. That is why there will never be world peace... In many ways, GOG is like the world but instead of wars with missiles and tanks there is just insulting and downreping. LOL

Langur, you're not seeing the double standard you're engaging in here. When you say something and other people are offended or feel insulted, you cavalierly dismiss them as "overly sensitive" or "overly PC", yet when they do the same to you suddenly it's wrong. When you offend others, their feelings don't matter but when others offend you that's bad?

By your own logic Langur, how can you get upset? After all, they feel THEIR behaviour is justified and THEY don't deserve that kind of treatment from you, so they insult you back. You don't seem to care about other people's feelings but then demand people care about yours.

Because I don't accept their culture. I only accept mine. I think my culture is superior and will fight to death for my culture. And we are all guilty of this. You are guilty of this too. That is the point I'm trying to make. What is right and wrong entirely depends on your culture. And that is why there was so much hostility. So another point I should bring up is, communication is pointless with people who are of a culture too different from yours. Such communication will only lead to fighting. This is the conclusion I came to after all the fighting. Some people just can't get along with each other...cats and dogs...

Same in France. We even say "the weak sex", but this one is less and less used, obviously.

Communication with different cultures and different people is how we get exposed to new ideas, broaden our minds, and improve ourselves.

And also leads to name calling, hatred, violence, genocide and wars. But I get what you are saying. There are Pros and Cons.
