I'm just grateful that I'm able to enjoy Beyond Good & Evil, Aquaria, Syberia, The Longest Journey, Portal, Tomb Raider, Donkey Kong Country, Escape Goat, Pacman etc. without feeling estranged that I'm playing an ape, a goat, a creepy yellow munching ball or something as alien as a woman (with boobs! *shivers*). :)

League of Legends : some statistics

Now you have some data on demographics : pretty hardcore game = mostly guys.
I can name dozens of pro gamers in that game : all guys, no girl pgm.

It's cruel business, sorry. They have limited resources. If they analyse "we can make this game strictly for teenage boys and get gazillion dollars or make it more for everyone and make only a gorillion dollars" what they would choose?

Sorry, but people who have no business insight whatsoever claiming they know better than people who are responsible for the company's wealth, always irritate me.

Long story short, there are PROBABLY not enough female hardcore gamers who want to kill everything that moves for them to care.

If it was really that profitable, some big player would already claim that slice of a pie.

And if 90% of LoL userbase are men, a game that is not really aimed at men, being pretty much unisex, it tells something more than "well, his girlfriends wants to play FPS games so probably 90% of females want that too"

They know their stuff, they have seen numbers and are statistics masters. I have seen a woman who only played casual games. That is very unlike men, who ALL PLAY ALL HARDCORE ALL DAY like MEN and MEN have MONEY which makes them a MARKET that WOMEN aren't BECAUSE WOMEN HAVE NO MONEY. It's so simple, but hard to get for some.

Because everything here was about how her points were all anti-male, as if her video was just about bashing males and male desires without any relevance to females. The problem of the depiction of females in media is IMO most important regarding it's effects on females. It's effects on males is important too, but secondary to the people who will identify with the video women i.e. other women. Just because she hasn't gotten to that point (yet?) doesn't mean it shouldn't be discussed here.

It seemed odd to me that upon hearing of a woman concerned with how women are depicted, all the males thought it must be about them.

Well, that was the point, kind of. The whole world will appear like a sad place if you're not able see further than the end of your nose and put yourself into someone else's shoes, adopt a different perspective than your own for a change. The whole concept of fiction is based on this ability, whether video games, books or movies.
