Elmofongo: Any man disrespecting women can never be a real man.

JMich: True, but let me ask you this:
Is opening the door for a woman, or offering to carry your (plural) groceries yourself disrespecting her or not?
And would you let a man do the same for you (ie open the door for you, or carry your groceries)
You stumped me my good sir, I have no answer because I have no answer to give.

If I'm walking with someone, regardless of gender, I'll hold the door for them and / or help them with heavy packages. Actually, most anyone in the office does. So I guess we're pretty egalitarian here.

To be honest, if anyone offered to carry my anything, I would say Hell yeah, bring it on!

It's not a matter of "you think I'm not strong enough?" it's a matter of "this dude wants to carry my shit for FREE!"

I still think about finding a fool who would help me carry my sofa when I'll be moving out. Carrying this on the 4th floor (no elevator) was horrible.

I'm that way too but If I see anyone attacking anyone based on gender thats when I get quite ferocious! I do not like what Anita did that was not Nice. she basically said men are all women hating pigs in a round about and sly way and then twisted the victimisation back around 2 fold blaming males the developers and then blaming everyone else which is unfair.

You will be quoted not for what you say, but for what you quote.

JMich: Don't you love it when we pleasantly surprise you? Doesn't it restore a little of your faith in humanity?

fr33kSh0w2012: Personally I have NO HOPE or Faith in Humanity. I'm being serious the whole world has spiraled out of control!
Watch this, it might cheer you up :P

Don't some feminists consider it offensive if you offer to hold a door open for them though? (I could be wrong here, not sure)

Yeah, the door holding thing is just a common decency kind of thing. I've always opened doors for anyone regardless of gender, and have seen others as well. As for helping with my heavy packages (giggity), that would really depend on the situation. Most stores in the states have shopping carts if you need help with your bags.
If I happen to see someone I know with a lot of bags loading a car up, I would help...but a stranger, not a chance as they might suspect ulterior motives are behind your generosity.

what's worse, if you approach a stranger from behind while packing groceries to their car, they may pepper spray you.

This is a question of intent though. Are you opening the door because she is a she or because she is walking with you. Or to rephrase, would you act the same if it was a he instead?

Dunno it never happened to me, I hold the door open for everyone regardless of gender, it's just one of those things where "a friend of a friend" once told someone about it

or how sometimes you passingly read something like it on twitter

Want to translate that into... comprehensible?

Yes. That answer has as much value as an answer to "Don't some republicans use drugs?", though.
