Alfie3000: No my point was I don't think Roberta Williams or Jane Jensen are misogynistic or sexist or whatever in any way. They created their fictional characters and story the way they wanted. If you think because the game features a man saving a woman that it somehow automatically makes it something sexist and wrong. It's all fictional fantasy. They used a plot device found in all media. It doesn't make them or the player a bad person for enjoying it. Some people over analyse.

And the most interesting question, why do we assume it's natural for the male to go looking for the female? Take a look at Costume Quest, one sibling is on a quest to help the other sibling, no matter if you play as the brother or the sister. Game/story is still the same.
Most people don't see the big piture. IMO those kind of videos should be banned. They do nothing constructive and just annoy a lot of people.

It would. But that's because of its fictional world. With Alexander you have to show your ring to several characters to prove your a Prince. I'd Imagine Cassima would have a harder time. Its part of the setting that has been crafted. But this setting isn't reality.

Adzeth: At no point has it been said that it makes the creator or the player a bad person for enjoying it. The sexism bits aren't presented like that either. What's being said is that "hey, this happens a lot and no thought is put into it, maybe some thought should be put into it". It almost seems like you're over analyzing it :p

Regarding (1) - in this case, it wouldn't. Vasilisa the Wise frequently kicks ass and takes names rescuing various hapless dudes. A funnier reversal is to change everyone's gender, not just that of the protagonist and the love interest. There’s a web script that performs it for texts. Many highly regarded dudebro fantasy novels are indistinguishable from mommy porn.

When Project Eternity was just announced and they were hyping up and asking for input, someone requested the ability to choose the protagonist's gender. And someone else replied that it'd be too much work and require a complete rewrite of the plot and wouldn't be as good and deserving of the brand Torment anyway, what with lacking the interplay between the protagonist and "the Female Other".

"The Female Other".

She didn't jump to that conclusion. She actually said the exact opposite in the video. As in, her mouth formed words that are in opposition to what you're saying. I meant that Alexander constantly has to prove who he is. It's not exactly plain sailing for him. I don't think Cassima would be believed either especially as its an adventure game and if the main storyline is saving someone, saving them straight away doesn't make for a very long game. In the world of Kings Quest VI there is also inequality. Is it right? no. But it is fiction.
