Both videos have pointed out repeated use of the same stereotypical tropes in games. Neither has seen her attacking men or describing either us or games as making us predators of any sort.

First off, untwist your panties, Princess. You're getting whiny again. And I tend to watch everything as a man....you know, what with being one and all. Weird how that works.

Second, no she isn't. Ever. Once. There was no direct attack on entertainment. She is not 'taking our laughter away'. That might be the single most ridiculous load of crap you've spewed yet, which makes it a bit impressive.

I don't know if you're too juvenile to actually process arguments, too irrational to make a case even slightly based in reality or a mix of the two. But you are seemingly incapable of actually sticking to facts and having a discussion.

Ugh, whole video about overused and cliched plots. If someone can write a good story without using motivation for a male character (and who can be a better motivator than a woman), then it'd be worth talking about. Besides, it's not what you use as a "trope", it is how you use and present it.

And this was a major point of the videos that I think really is key...just how utterly repetitive a lot of these silly game plot lines are. We need new ideas. Not for the betterment of women's right or anything like that, but just to actually get to do something NEW in a game.

She didn't jump to that conclusion. She actually said the exact opposite in the video. As in, her mouth formed words that are in opposition to what you're saying. Does it matter that I'm pointing this out? At all? Did you read this far? Say "Klondike" in your response if you did. Add "Gold Rush" if you understand what I'm saying.
Klondike and Gold rush yes but try and see it from a Males point of view Jesus what does she want? Most men Like Saving the Girlfriend (Princess) because it's a hark back to the days of yore and we can have a chortle at it because it isn't real. Okay say you see a woman getting hit by a car in a video game (carmageddon) Isn't that funny they make a funny noise don't they? Would you then Find it Funny that some woman got hit by a car in real life? we drive like Carmageddon in real life and we are going to get it when the Police Get us are we Not? See my point? when playing games are we REALLY Hurting anyone? No we are not! She is assuming that we will go on a massive Rape / Murder / Child Molestation binge because we play these video games!

That's what I really got out of it too. I haven't played console games for years. I didn't really realise the storylines in so many games were so repetitive and stupid (That said, I am sure there are a huge number of games that don't share the same plotlines).

I guess being a pc gamer, you take for granted the wide range of storylines and plots that we get to see.

Of the last 30 games that I have finished recently Starcraft is the only one with anything like a damsel in distress trope in it, and that's pushing it. I need to play more games that involve rescuing women!

Haven't heard any suggestions for plots in the video. Easy to bash, difficult to create.

No my point was I don't think Roberta Williams or Jane Jensen are misogynistic or sexist or whatever in any way. They created their fictional characters and story the way they wanted. If you think because the game features a man saving a woman that it somehow automatically makes it something sexist and wrong. It's all fictional fantasy. They used a plot device found in all media. It doesn't make them or the player a bad person for enjoying it. Some people over analyse.

Let me ask you this, would reversing the genders make any significant change to the plot/storyline? Would it be that different if Cassima went looking for Alexander instead?
And the most interesting question, why do we assume it's natural for the male to go looking for the female? Take a look at Costume Quest, one sibling is on a quest to help the other sibling, no matter if you play as the brother or the sister. Game/story is still the same.

At no point has it been said that it makes the creator or the player a bad person for enjoying it. The sexism bits aren't presented like that either. What's being said is that "hey, this happens a lot and no thought is put into it, maybe some thought should be put into it". It almost seems like you're over analyzing it :p
