Oh no! We had to move our new video debut to Friday :( Take a look at the making-of instead: http://bit.ly/MakingOfGOG

So... no more surprise today?

Yeah, we ended up having to reschedule today's planned cool thing.

The actual cool thing is moved to next Tuesday. But we'll have some cool videos up starting on Friday.

Many apologies for announcing an announcement. We honestly were trying not to do that this time. :">

I demand for this to be on the GOG office walls.

I find this hard to believe.
Well, if the only new things are Machinarium and a re-skinned site, I think we can wait.

Anyway. are we having a Gem Promo tomorrow?

Lexor: I do not understand why to change site design - current one is very simple, very functional, have everything I need and I love it.
I think there are much more other important things that should be done first (like fixes for some games).

bazilisek: Well, when I say design, I mean coding. Design is fine, but the coding is not. Catalogue is becoming unwieldy with 300+ games all on a single page, the My Account section is broken for pretty much the same reason, forums lack essential features. The site has not scaled with GOG's growth, and if they didn't do something about it, it would only keep getting worse.
I agree, the catologue section could use some cleaning up. But other than that I think the basic design.

One thing I would like is that for forums that I marked as my favorite topics could be sectioned off. Kind of distracting every time I go into the forums to have the top part cluttered when they could be moved behind a single link called favorites. I know I could simply book mark them instead of marking them (which I did), but it would just be a nice feature to have.

Third! With pics as proof.
This is awesome.

Both the site redesign, and the game, but more the site redesign.

Purchased Machinarium in 2010 on promo from Amanita for $6 - but I guess I'll it from GOG as well.. Glad Amanita joins - hope to see Botanicula here.
As for site redesign - I don't know ..kinda like current one. I would rather see web team focusing on adding new features (Twitter-like box, notification of updates in extras, installers etc)

EDIT: ...or easier wishes like ability to change thread's title ...or search function that works :-P

Speaking of cleaning up the catalog, did they do some pruning of user accounts or change how they count sales or something? Looking at the catalog sorted by bestselling, JA Deadly Alliance, Broken Sword, and Empire Earth all used to be near the top since they were given away at some point, but now they are not.
I find it amusing that the most popular thing I did today was draw a walrus with a sharpie on the back of a video script page. :P
