One of the most famous space simulation saga gets its appearance on GOG.com. Choose your fate in the Wing Commander universe!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/wing_commander_privateer]Wing Commander: Privateer is another classic gem from the critically acclaimed Origin Systems. The famous Wing Commander universe serves as the setting for this exceptional Elite-style game. It draws its concept and inspiration from this classical masterpiece and elevates it to a whole new level. An entire galaxy is there to explore or find a good trade route, get rich, and pimp out your ship. ;)

Be a pirate, a merchant, or a bounty hunter serving the highest bidder. Make life-long friendships and earn sworn enemies that will track you down and attempt to wipe you out. At the end of the day the only thing that counts is your Credit Balance.

Galimatias: Due to licensing reasons we couldn't get the Righteous Fire add-on.

Nergal01: That's unfortunate. :( Well, please keep trying to get RF.
I'm almost sure that when they do get permission, the original buyers of WC:Priv. will get it included as part of their package. Just like they did with the Broken Sword series.
Well, everyone who has not bought Witcher2 yet, please do so now ;-), so Gog can afford to buy the rights to the System Shock name and co-develop/ publish System Shock 3 together with EA. The release of System Shock 1&2 in a version that runs well on modern OS'es would of course be the proverbial cherry on top. Next goal Eidos and the elusive Thief series, especially 1 & 2 :-)

That is my hope, as well.
My Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro is getting a workout... Thanks GOG!
So no Righteous Fire for now, but does it have the speech pack at least?
Thank you GOG! I was waiting for Privateer since the day I joined you!
On my knees, from the bottom of my heart I am saying big THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Will wait on this one to see if the expansion appears and whether the speech pack is included as mentioned by @SmashManiac.

Stevezen: I like the Wing Commander games and may buy this one but...

PLEASE stop calling it an 'ELITE Clone' its nothing of the kind!!
its a space simulation come shooter..

I don't remember trading commodities in Wing Commander??
just because its set in space you can't give it an 'ELITE Clone' tag.. thats stupid.
Sounds like you've never actually played Privateer before.
I'll probably end up buying this as I misplaced my Privateer CD a long time ago. (Included the RF add-on and speech.) I'm rather disappointed at the lack of these, but I know you'd have put them in there if you were allowed.

EA, if you're reading this, please do your best to help GOG include the portions of games that you used to include in your "CD-ROM Classics" editions. The same goes games like Strike Commander, not only did the CD version have the add-on and speech pack, but it boasted much improved performance.

Besides the other WC titles and Strike Commander, I hope GOG/EA are able to eventually re-release "Wings of Glory" and Pacific Strike.

Oh, you mentioning Wings of Glory made me remember Wings, which must have been an inspiration for Wings of Glory. Wouldn't mind that one on GOG as well.
I have to wait until Monday to pick this up. But I'm so happy, finally a great science fiction title that's more story based and more than a third person shooter.

Hey, that looks like a good game. Thanks for mentioning it! I wouldn't mind playing that some day.

Yeah, it was great. I remember that the strafing missions were really hard, but me and my friends loved that it actually had a story and character development. Most fighter sims of that era, or later for that matter, didn't have much story, just mission. Except for Origins games of course.
I'm looking forward to WC: Prophecy if and when that appears. That game had the best 'Missile Cam' ever. :-)
Please pleas please, release Privateer 2! The only reason I'm not playing that right now is because I cannot install it anymore... Best game EVER!

I still remember a friend pointing it out to me that that the flagship in that game looks like a pair of pants. And then it gets an addition... ^_^
