The fans of real-time with a pinch of [url=http://www.gog.com/en/search/sort/genre/rpg]RPG can now grab the third installment in the Warlords Battlecry series for $9.99
[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/warlords_battlecry_3]Warlords Battlecry 3 is a real-time strategy game with role-playing elements, in which the player's character, or Hero, and their retinue travel across the world of Etheria, completing various missions and side-quests. The first part of the series was one of the first to introduce a hero-building system and the later installments expanded on that considerably. There are 28 character classes and a total of 16 different playable races and factions. The game's advanced diplomacy system lets you have various kinds of relationship with others, even to a point of making an NPC faction playable, and gives the game great replayability.
Damnit, this sounds cool but I'm broke for the forseeable future.
Ooh then again I do have a birthday in a month, I think this may just go on the list...
Hi GOG people,
It seems other download versions of WBC3 have a game-breaking bug, apparently related to the DRM removal, which turns all items in chests to Elven Rings of Greed and also prevents any skill with 100% chance from ever working. Here's a link to the Impulse discussion on the topic:

Can you confirm if the GOG.com version is free of this bug? I would expect so, but I'd like to be entirely sure before I buy it.

That is a pretty bad bug, i really don't think the gog people could have fixed the bug even if they had the source code since fixing old games isn't really their job.Maybe Infinite Interactive can provide a patch or something?

Ok, let me get this straight. So it does have the bug, but the patch you mentioned fixes it? Have you tested it internally?

What I see there is this: Warlords Battlecry III_unofficial_patch_10324.exe
I think the key word here is "unofficial". I hope you're not saying that you intentionally sell broken software, and rely on people to use unofficial fixes themselves in order for it to actually work?
Wishbone, I wouldn't put in those terms. After all, GOG receives the game from the publisher, usually with no way to change or recompile the code to make it work, if it has any problems. The best they can do is to use external applications and settings to get them working fine, and point possible solutions for the remaining problems.
I guess that's probably the issue here, but if the unofficial patch works, I'm all for it.
BTW, problems like that are the exception at GOG, not the rule. The only other game with such problems I can think of is Arx Fatalis, again because the version provided by the publisher/developer had those problems to start with. I had zero issues with all the other games I got from GOG so far, and I have around 20 in my virtual shelf now.

As long as it works it is fine by me. However I do think it is important to make it clear that an unofficial patch might be needed on the product page, or some other place.
I just found some very interesting info:

It seems the unofficial patch effectively replaces what would be the next "official" patch, which was cancelled due to "time constraits". So, this unofficial patch is not as "unofficial" as one might think. ;)

I know that. I've been here a long time. The thing is, I love GOG a lot. Not just because of their great deals, prices, and the fact that they make available to us games that have been gone for a long time. What I really admire about them is their integrity. The fact that they, as opposed to almost every other company in the world, really do put the customer first. Usually, their business practices are impeccable, and I would like them to stay that way. So at the smallest sign that they're doing something not quite up to their usual standards, I'm usually up in their faces about it. Call it tough love, if you will ;-)

Fair enough. I actually feel the same way. ;)

Yeah, this really should have been patched before rerelease. :(
We cannot use unofficial patch before developer let us do this.
We wrote to developer and we are waiting for the reply.

Thank you, this is the sort of thing you should announce immediately :-D
Of course, you should really have done it before you released the game :-/
