hmmm... I'll check some gameplay footage before I decide. I just don't like "lonely" RPGs where you mostly just go from dungeon to dungeon. I like towns, side quests, NPCs to talk to, stores etc.

All you have to do is be an active participant in the Bloodlines community to see how the game is constantly picking up new players on a very steady and regular basis, ever since the game showed up on DD services. Prior to that happening, the community was on its last legs and for all intents and purposes, was dead.
I'm certainly not suggesting there is some kind of warning system in place for what GOG does, but you can bet that all of the digital download services watch what the others are doing very carefully. If one starts undercutting prices, the others will either grudgingly match it or give up sales, that's just the way retail works.

As cogadh said, its not really as diabllo as people seem to claim. Its a 3rd person game where the majority of the combat is melee and attacks involve clicking on the enemy and thats about where the similarity stops.
Combat is a very variable thing depending on your character levelling, one can be a brilliant swordsman and suck at range, another can be a nasty discipline user and kill most enemies before they even see you (rain of fire plus the ability to cast it round a corner is devastating), a third can be an expert gunman and be completely stuffed when the ammo runs out.
If I have a criticism about the games rpgishness, it'd have to be that there's not enough variation in the story
It's something you've been waiting for and is $6, I say take a chance on it and you'll like it and be happy or not like it and have wasted a minimal amount of money.

For those who thinks that Redemption is clone of Diablo: IT ISN"T.
Beginning is something like banish some rats from the mine.(Classic,which must be in each RPG.)Then Boss and change, BIG CHANGE. You feel that hack'n slash change into something unique: Each conversation, decision is important, a lot of interesting characters, and more things, which makes this game something fantastic.

Some of the comments about the graphics of this game crack me up because they were so far ahead of their time that it took most other 3D games YEARS to look as good. My, how far things have come.
I played it when it first came out, and other than it being so difficult that I had to cheat on some of the bosses, I remember it being very enjoyable.
I just picked this up, as I sold my game years ago because it was a pain to get it working, so now I have it back again.... I love GOG!!
Anyone know if there are any good spots in this game to grind so that I do not have to cheat the bosses again?? I don't think I made it even past the first boss.... lol...

Okay then, so thoughts so far:
This game's proving to be a diamond in the rough, simple. Nice visuals accompanied by voice acting that isn't downright terrible? Yes indeed, and an absolute bonus for a game this old, on top of which comes the very friendly and easy to get to grips with combat system which I think is, infact, 'Diablo esque'... which is no bad thing in my books.
Anyways, so far my little crusader has donned his red cape and charged headlong into an abandoned mine to save Prague from an impending invasion of... rats!
It's worth mentioning then that this game is going through all the typical P&P RPG motions including that cliché cave/basement scenario of rat massacring but hey, I have to admit this is turning out to be a pretty solid little game.
My only gripe so far is with the camera controls, sluggish and awkward. Bit sucky [ho ho ho] isn't it? =/

Loved this game when it came out, remember building my first computer (not my first computer but the first computer I actually built) in order to play it at max graphics.
The gameplay (at least how I remember it) wasn't at all like "Diablo" to me , rather it reminded me more of classic Isometeric rpgs with just a more real time combat approach.
Ther'es plenty of dialogue/character interaction in the game that isn't at all like diablo type of hack and slash games.
Speaking of Bloodlines vs Redemption, both are great rpgs, just told in two seperate approaches.
The thing I really enjoyed about Redemption was the way the storyline evovles over time, instead of just a one-setting/time it goes from the Middle ages to modern times, which to my knowledge hasn't been done all that much in any game really.

Well, to clarify I'm still at the early opening stage of the game where I've been placed in a mine, armed with a large club and shield whereupon I'm frantically striking my left mouse button to kill rats pouring out of the walls at me.
So far pretty Diablo >_>

Excellent release. Never got a chance to play this game, although that will shortly be rectified. I'm actually glad that GOG ended up releasing Redemption before Bloodlines, as at the moment Bloodlines can be gotten through most download services, while Redemption is quite hard to come by (plus it seems to be more difficult to get to work on modern systems). Not that Bloodlines won't be another instant buy, I'm just glad to be able to finally sink my teeth into Redemption.

Thanks GOG - Great release. Now we need Bloodlines. I understand Bloodlines was released as a special with a full sountrack back in 2004. Hope you work that into the GOG Release. Keep it up.

Wait until you will have a party from which you choose what member to control. From there is not diablo anymore. And the story will evolve too.
Btw, there are multiple endings depending how you play your main character Christof. Choosing dialogues and who you kill will influence the ending.

Yeah the first section is a bit more like diablo but once you turn into a vampire (i think everyone knows this happens so it's not a spoiler) it turns more tactical and squadbased. Some parts are really hard. I started replaying it a month ago and I still love every bit of it. I even like the graphics. Only thing thats weird is that during dialogue sometime the camera is positioned awkwardly so it cuts of heads and stuff or is this fixed in the gog version??
