The moment you start this game it becomes clear that it's a homage to the acclaimed X-COM series. UFO: Aftermath isn't just a dusted-off iteration of the classic series, however. In many respects it's an improvement.

Many gameplay elements, most notably the global view, are reminiscent of the X-COM series. The key difference is that the actual combat isn't turn-based but is instead performed in real-time, with an "active pause" feature. Such fundamental differences don't often work in a spinoff's favor, but UFO: Aftermath somehow managed to pull it off - its combat system is simply great. The game's value is only supplemented by the great storyline. With the Earth in ruins and faced against insane odds, what will you do to reclaim what has been lost?
