We bet you didn't see that coming. Today we're releasing the "sequel" to the acclaimed RTS franchise Total Annihilation. For the price of only $5.99 that's a steal!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/total_annihilation_kingdoms]Total Annihilation: Kingdoms is a real-time strategy that developed many features of its predecessor. The game is neither a sequel nor prequel to the original Total Annihilation, but a spin-off that took players from the futuristic setting from the first part into a world of fantasy. Aside from the different setting than in the original, other changes include a simpler resource management which allows you to focus more on the massive battles, and four different factions (instead of two) with distinct units' characteristics. Our version of the game also includes "The Iron Plague" expansion which adds one more kingdom and hundreds of new maps to play on. Forget about lunch today and spend this spare cash on this game and you won't regret it.
I heard it was totally different from TA, but a great game if you don't have preconceived notions of what it should be. I've been hoping GOG would get it for a while.
I LUV this game. My favorite RTS by far. I enjoy a lot this mechanic of "little management, lots of conflict".

Nothing beat you send your army of 150 units to patrol the middle of the map while you produce a stream of fliers for guerrilla tactics.

I like TA as well, but the fantasy theme and the race differences of TA:K make the game more fun to me.

The campaign is a miss. But then, I hate both the linear changing sides styles of campaign it has, and the "different parts of the same linear campaign" that warcraft 3/starcraft have. For me the best is warcraft2, and each side can win the same war, depends on your race pick. Warlord 3 has a very good one too.

So, let's buy it and setup some multiplayer games :)

cp96alumni: Or 2000. But if we are talking Westwood, than we need Lands of Lore as well.

Rakasta: And Dune 2000 for sure! Lands of Lore truly fantastic and is an essential game on gog. LoL 2 and 3 should follow too even if they aren't up there with LoL 1.
I like to see all Westwood games im GOG, the problem is they are in EA's catalogue (who bought Westwood years ago) and EA don´t have games in GOG at the moment....
@ EL_Caz

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the game.
Well I just saw it too, I looked a week ago, nothing, Voted for the game. Was about to gift up hope and reinstall from my cds. Then today I look at gog and here it is. =D

Edit: DOES this version have a MP option online to play??? If so BONUS and Ill have to drag my friends in.

Also when will the game forums for TAK be up? ^^

Umm...why? I bought both games when they were published back in the 90s, and loved them. The only reason I can imagine for being disappointed in TA:K would be it being a spin-off, not the long-awaited sequel to the original TA. As someone already said in this thread, TA:K is best enjoyed without any preconceptions.

Of course you may not like it anyway, but don't dismiss the game simply because it is different from its "prequel" :)
Hmm, some Pros and Cons for this game... I think I wait until one of the promos and keep playing TA and Psychonauts now :)
Going to pass on this for now. But...Dune 2, loved that one!

Dune 2 was a fun game, but I'd prefer to see Dune 2000 here. I never got a chance to play it back in the day, it doesn't seem to work now, and it fixes the only thing from Dune 2 that I didn't like: selecting units one at a time.
I'll probably wait until a promo myself. I have it wishlisted.

Money is a little tight, I have the original game on disk, and it's not exactly the greatest game on earth. However, I've wanted to play the expensive and hard-to-find Iron Plague, which makes this a great deal as it is for $6.

Nice to see, despite the lack of this games' popularity, that it's once again available for purchase. Just because a game isn't AAA material doesn't mean the only means of playing it should be in the form of a used disk or "abandonware".

I agree - plus I always found it rather fun (esp as its the only game that lets me send scores of dragons/drakes through the air at my enemy :) ). The price here is what, a 3rd what I would have paid for the expansion on release (somewhere around £15 was the old price for expansions before they all started becoming either micro transaction or the standalone release ;))

Hmmm..never played Dune 2000 either. I heard it got mixed reviews, some bug problems etc back in the day so I stayed away from it. I was going to wait until it got patched, but then other games came along and well..you know. I played the Amiga version of Dune 2, could you only select one unit at a time? I know C&C 1 & 2 allowed for multiple selection. It's been such a long time since I played Dune 2. I can't remember. I'll take your word for it :)
