There's a new sheriff in town, and he's after you...

Thief™ II: The Metal Age was the last game released by the legendary Looking Glass Studios. You can relive this instant classic now for merely $9.99!

The story picks up after the events of [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/thief_gold" target="_blank]THIEF™ GOLD. The Metal Age has come to the City. The city has gone fully steampunk and steam-powered robots, cameras, and other cutting edge wonders have been introduced by the Mechanists, a faction raised from the ashes of the Hammerite religion. Although the Mechanists are a new cult, they are led by a former Order of the Hammer priest named Karras, and he is showing the usual Hammerite taste for labyrinthine plots. Not everyone loves the new religion, though, and the City’s people have created a small religious sect in opposition to the Mechanists. The Pagans are a nature-loving sect led by Viktoria, a wood nymph in human form. Their aim is to shun technology and live in harmony with the wild, chaotic natural world.

A third player has thrust himself into this tense situation: Gorman Truart, the new Sheriff. He is a corrupt plotter who oppresses the people, collects bribes, and exploits the weak, and he’s on the long list of people who are not fans of the master thief Garrett. All three factions have their own wants and needs, and it’s almost enough to make an honest thief want to give up the business. As usual, Garrett’s not really interested in playing the role of hero for the City, but despite his self-centered instincts, circumstances will propel him into the middle of this three-sided war. One thing is sure: if he’s going to save the City, they’re certainly going to pay for it.

Now with even more loot to steal, more clever gadgets, and more ways to play through each mission, levels range from 30 minute hits to lengthy heists with multiple objectives and solutions. Showcasing the incredible dynamic lighting and fantastic audio that made the first game a hit, but with better graphics and AI, Thief™ II is definitely an example of a sequel done correctly, with more of all the best elements of its predecessor.

Check out Thief™ II: The Metal Age, DRM-Free and Windows 7 compatible, for only $9.99!
Wow, also 10USD, and I still have to apply fixes myself?
Amazon has the whole collection for a tenner (7EUR). :(
Fantastic release, well done to GOG for this game as well as the cool extras!

Also: Can a moderator PLEASE remove the first two Thief games from the wishlist?

PLEASE?
Keep the releases rolling, wishlisted.

Adzeth: Maybe they're waiting for a guard to pass. Those guys walk like they've got nothing better to do..

Daedolon: I thought we all memorized their patterns back in 2000.
<Garrett> *shoots an arrow at a guard's head*
<Random guard #28> AH! I know you're here somewhere.
*1 minute later*
<Random guard #28> Eh. Must be rats.

Nergal01: Correct me if I'm wrong, but.... could it be that GOG is the first digital download shop to actually offer Thief 2? Not even the Eidos Store has it.

If it's true: good on GOG! :)

discordiac: it actually is true :) We're the only place that sells Thief 2 (and it rocks!)
This is what I love about GOG! Exclusive Games that aren't available anywhere else online!

Also: Are you new around here? Since you joined in January, this is the first time I've seen you post, did you already introduce yourself? :)
This shoddy game doesn't deserve to be on GOG. If it wasn't so old and pixelated I'm sure they never would have released it. Yes it is a popular request but is everything that is popular good? You tell me. The gameplay is the same old sneak, kill and loot with hardly anything new thrown in the mix, in fact it could be described as a RPG where everything but the most basic elements has been streamlined to hell. The interface is cryptic and the sound design outdated. It shamelessly rips of many older games like Daggerfall, Ultima Underworld and Quake. There are no experience points or skill trees and choice is rather limited. Some people has described certain levels as scary, but the low-poly models and environments is only suitable for scaring little kids. If you're scared by this I have only one thing to say to you, BOO!! The game is also ridiculously difficult even on the lowest levels. Needless to say it fails both in gameplay and atmosphere.
3/10 from me. Well actually I'm just telling you a boatload of lies to get a rise from you. Someone has to say something bad and this time it is me. In fact I have never played any games in the Thief series, but I really want to play them all. From what I have read they seem like really good games. There should be more games like these with original and well made game mechanics as well as good sound design and esthetics. I just hope GOG has done a good job fixing them up for modern operating systems.

Agreed! What a rubbish game!

It's not a Good old Game at all, was it overhyped? were tons of cash spent on marketing? did this game sucker anyone into buying it? No? then it's not a GOG, this website should be ashamed and give us classics like Daikatana and Big Rigs instead

Also: The extras are pitiful: it should come at least with some DRM free Pizza and at least one free Polish Bikini model

I think you are being too modest. It should at least come with a pin-up calendar with Garret and some of his friends. Without that I can't really say that I think that the team did their job.

You got me good there, whilst reading the initial bit was thinking on how to wail on you with a reply.

All 3 Thief games are really good. Thief 3 (Deadly Shadows) I really like but there are many people out there that dont like it due to the way it was very console orientated. It has a cracking story and some of the levels are just fantastic in every way - Shalbridge Cradle being one of the best levels ever to grace a PC game.

There is so much back story, factions, atmosphere in the Thief series. They can be a little difficult initially when you start playing but you will find that once you have been playing an hour or so it comes naturally. You will be nicking things like arrows from guards quivers while they are stood there oblivious in next to no time. You also will get to grips with the tools provided, things like vine and noise arrows etc. Water arrows on Thief 2 arnt just used to knock lights out, there are steam robot type sentries. Sit and watch them, when they turn their back you will notice a furnace.

Fantastic series of games, cant wait for Thief 4, hopefully it will land this year.

I actually really loved Deadly Shadows

I mean, yeah, it did suffer from some problems and its not as good as the previous installments but it's still a great game

Mohaha! My plan succeeded! The only bug in the bowl is that lowyhong beat me to it.

iainmet: ...
At least give people the freedom to learn to play the game, telling them how to beat it before they even buy it is not really all that friendly.
YAY!!! \o/

*does happy dance and buys Thief 2 instantly*

And my goodness but you guys are easily troll'd, today....
