There's a new sheriff in town, and he's after you...

Thief™ II: The Metal Age was the last game released by the legendary Looking Glass Studios. You can relive this instant classic now for merely $9.99!

The story picks up after the events of [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/thief_gold" target="_blank]THIEF™ GOLD. The Metal Age has come to the City. The city has gone fully steampunk and steam-powered robots, cameras, and other cutting edge wonders have been introduced by the Mechanists, a faction raised from the ashes of the Hammerite religion. Although the Mechanists are a new cult, they are led by a former Order of the Hammer priest named Karras, and he is showing the usual Hammerite taste for labyrinthine plots. Not everyone loves the new religion, though, and the City’s people have created a small religious sect in opposition to the Mechanists. The Pagans are a nature-loving sect led by Viktoria, a wood nymph in human form. Their aim is to shun technology and live in harmony with the wild, chaotic natural world.

A third player has thrust himself into this tense situation: Gorman Truart, the new Sheriff. He is a corrupt plotter who oppresses the people, collects bribes, and exploits the weak, and he’s on the long list of people who are not fans of the master thief Garrett. All three factions have their own wants and needs, and it’s almost enough to make an honest thief want to give up the business. As usual, Garrett’s not really interested in playing the role of hero for the City, but despite his self-centered instincts, circumstances will propel him into the middle of this three-sided war. One thing is sure: if he’s going to save the City, they’re certainly going to pay for it.

Now with even more loot to steal, more clever gadgets, and more ways to play through each mission, levels range from 30 minute hits to lengthy heists with multiple objectives and solutions. Showcasing the incredible dynamic lighting and fantastic audio that made the first game a hit, but with better graphics and AI, Thief™ II is definitely an example of a sequel done correctly, with more of all the best elements of its predecessor.

Check out Thief™ II: The Metal Age, DRM-Free and Windows 7 compatible, for only $9.99!
Thief 1 and 2 are great and i have them on sight for a purchase someday soon. However i'm hoping for the big finale the entire time i've found out about GoG. And that is System Shock 1 and 2. I never really played 1 but i played second one like hundred times. THE BEST GAME EVER (yes with big letters). So i really hope Looking Glass games don't stop at this point...
YAY!

Now I just got to fix my laptop so it can run games again.
Great success! Good to finally have the Thief games here, even if they are overpriced.

lowyhong: Btw did you guys know that Viktoria's voiced by Terri Brosius, a.k.a. SHODAN? I never felt the similarities until I re-watched some of the cutscenes of the later levels.

MaridAudran: Terri Brosius was also a co-singer of the now forgotten Boston college rock band all to enjoy.
Also, she is married to Eric Brosius, who was a sound designer for Looking Glass, also a member of Tribe, and now works for Harmonix of Rock Band fame.

Fuzzyfireball: Now release Conflict: Vietnam so I can watch the whiny people cry.
+1

Another great Garrett adventure. If I were to refuse this I would be a taffer.

Speaking of Rock Band, one of Tribe's songs, Outside, was a bonus track in the first game. IMO, one of the best tracks in the entire series.

That one is a favorite of mine as well.
You know, for getting some items off the "official" wishlist (these had thousands of votes), the response almost seems lukewarm, not like when EA came on board (or maybe that was just rage from everyone). Is it the price or the fact that most of these Squeenix games are available elsewhere? (Well, apparently Thief 2 isn't...)

Well, we already got Thief 1 so it's not a great surprise that we got Thief 2 also. It's awesome, but we already did all of the "OMG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOREVER" shenanigans in the first thread. This is more like joyous contentment than soccer hooliganism.
I am down with more Thief... assuming I ever get around to finishing the first one. I hear that Thief II has better level design though, so there's that.
Fantastic news, GoG people!
So if Looking Glass closed after Thief 2, then who made Deadly Shadows?
Ion Storm and Eidos

Unfortunately Ion Storm closed its doors as well (they made excellent Deus Ex and a bit less excellent Deus Ex 2 along with Thief Deadly Shadows). Eidos merged with Square Enix as well.
There were quite some changes in the gaming industry...

for me it's the price, TBH. at $9.99 even the greatest game isn't an instabuy. also, i have the Thief Complete Collection on its way so i won't be picking up the GoG edition anytime soon. hence the absence of excitement.

as for the wishlist, people will vote for anything. doesn't mean they actually want it or intend to pick it up.

it's a bit like it was with The Witcher 2. everybody here couldn't stop going on about how great it was and how great a developer CD Projekt RED are (they are, of course) yet when the game (DRM-free, too) got a 40% or 50% discount mere months after release, plenty of forum-goers were saying that they still didn't own it and that it was still too expensive...

the wishlist only reflects peoples' desire to get every game onto GoG.com. it doesn't reflect their intention to actually buy the games, which makes the wishlist somewhat pointless.
