It arrives!

Syndicate, the classic isometric game where you play to rule the world, lands on GOG.com today for just $5.99!

Played from a top-down isometric view, Syndicate presents the player with a simple goal: world domination. As a “Marketing Director”--or, more accurately, a hitman--for a new syndicate, the player will need to lead a squad of four operatives to infiltrate, capture, search, and destroy their way to the top of the corporate food chain. Critically acclaimed for its gameplay, splashy graphics, and deep customization options, Syndicate is one of those good old titles that every gamer should have on their shelf.

If you're a fan of games, fun, or taking over the world, this is definitely right up your alley, so pick it up now.
This is my second day 1 purchase.

Thanks GOG!

SLP2000: This is my second day 1 purchase.
My third. Both Crusaders were my first and second.
From the game's page: "all on fully destructible levels!"

I do not recall that part. Perhaps remove it?

This would have been an instant buy, then I read the EULA. Way to stick to your 'no-DRM' stance GOG. I am dissapoint. :(
Wishlisted… I want MORE! My wishlist is severely crippled after xmas sale.

Mine first was Heroes Chronicles, as I was waiting to get it for a very long time.

I don't follow. If there are no DRM in the game, then there are not DRM in the game.
Bought it. Tried it. Disappointed that the graphics aren't as good as the Amiga version (seems the color palette is limited), but at least it sounds more or less exactly the same.

Game plays the same though. Is there another version out there that looks as good as the Amiga version?

Wiki says DOS versions has fewer colors but higher resolution.

"Access to Software, Online Features And/Or Services. An EA/Origin Account, including the acceptance of EA’s online Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (available at www.ea.com), the installation of Origin client application (www.origin/about.com) (or superceding download management software) as well as acceptance of the Origin (or superceding download management software) End User License Agreement, may be required to access the Software"

I would consider the requirement of singing up for, and installing, EA's Origin platform as a requirement to play to be a form of DRM.

If this is not the case, and EA's Origin platform is NOT required, then I will gladly and eagerly purchase this title, as it is one of the more memorable, enjoyable and entertaining games I have played.
I have never played it as well. And I don't think I will spend few bucks on it... Waiting for Ignition though :-)

That exactly what it looks like. The resolution seems decent, but that doesn't help much if the game doesn't look as good. Still, it works flawlessly (the game never did have particularly smooth scrolling, don't think the Amiga version was much better there), so I can't complaint.

It's really a testament to how fantastic the Amiga was, running a game from '93 on hardware from '85 (although the A500 was released in '87) and still being the best version.

And did you see someone saying Origin platform is required?

EA has the same EULA for all their games. Some of them require Origin, and others not.

That's why they said "may be required to access the Software"

may doesn't mean must

We already know that the developers of this game thought DOS version as superior to Amiga version.

I don't see why you'd need it.

GOG patch their games to the latest official version.

It doesn't explicitly confirm or deny, and I have had some previous issues with EA in the past, so I tend to lean towards caution. If someone who has purchased Syndicate on GOG can confirm that EA's Origin is NOT required to be installed, then I'll be a happy camper.
