Our first new release in 2010 isn't just any other game. It's an oldschool trip to the age when we had no Internet, computers were expensive and we had to make do with cardboard and dice.
[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/strategic_command_european_theater]Strategic Command: European Theater, as one can expect from the name, is a strategy game set in World War II. What sets this title apart from others is that it's pretty much a computer game representation of a board wargame, with an additional layer of politics and logistics added just underneath. The AI isn't incredibly challenging, so this game's main appeal is as a multiplayer game. The plenty of options available here include the usual TCP/IP, hotseat and even the uber-oldschool PBEM (Play By E-Mail). So if you recall having some "grognard" buddies you used to play board wargames with back in school, now you've got a good way to get back in touch.
This is actually a really good game. It looks horribly complicated and clunky on the screenshots, but it's actually very easy to play and quite addictive. But $9.99 is perhaps a bit too much to ask for it.
That's a great game I still recall from old times!
I remember this game - how I love to crush Nazis with french troops at the beginning of the game :D It was so funny! :D
ITS AWESOME!

Thanks GOG. May put this on my wish list and wait for a sale day.
Ooh yeah, PBEM or GTFO! Looks like an old school version of Hearts Of Iron, shall be grabbing this when my bank balance has recovered from the christmas sales
Is it 1v1 multiplayer or can there be more?

Agreed. Maybe I would buy this and Combat Mission, but $9.99 is too much for it.
this looks strangely fun. I might buy it when I feel like playing a game like this.
Oh, another war strategy. Not my kind of game. Works for me as I can recover from the Christmas sale.
Though I must admit I was expecting something more spectacular.
Yup, i agree, too expensive for such a game. $3,49 would be more the price which fits.
Excellent prices are: for example:
Riven, myst, imperial glory, $5,99
For all those complaining about the price, Battlefront still sells the game for $15 on their site. It's also $15 on Gamersgate and $24.95 on Direct2Drive. So...yeah.
It's a great strategy game. :)
Maybe with Global Conflict set to be a 2010 release we will see all of the back catalog here soon. Love those old wargames. And yes I even still like to get in a round of Panzeer General now and again. http://rudankort.spb.ru/PGForever.zip

I'm not complaining on the quality of the game, for me it looks ok and got my interest, I would buy it to give a try since I don't have the time needed for a deeper game like hearts of iron.
I know battlefront for their prices, this was discussed IIRC in the release of combat mission here. I know that there's a lot of talking between publishers/devs for the final price here, but it is just my opinion. $5.99 for some older games would make them more accessible, thus a greater number of people interested in getting the game and getting the other titles of the same publisher/dev.

This is a very good game - one of my favourite 'beer and pretzels' computer strategy games. I also have the sequel which is quite good, though it uses an isometric angle for the hexes which annoys me.

Soon.
